“And as regards the image quality, while it may not please a picky photo enthusiast, it is more than adequate for snapshots intended for on-screen viewing or common print sizes. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T700 might not be a success with the demanding and/or traditionalist photographer, but it is more than a great step up for those who have hitherto only been shooting with a cell phone camera.”

“Despite its good looks and really thin design, the Cyber-shot T700 isn’t a very good camera in terms of picture taking abilities and value. Image quality is just average and the camera sacrifices ergonomics and practicality. If you’re looking for a camera which can take good pictures and functions like a normal camera (instead of a fiddly-to-use.”

“This is an awesome ultra-compact. This is a Fast camera that can capture beautiful images, all the while being as compact and stylish as they come. Like we saw on the T77, the “cool” touchscreen worked great, and is sure to impress your friends.”

PCMag
“The camera showed a little more than typical barrel distortion and pincushioning at wide and zoomed-in positions, respectively, but nothing too bad. Color fringing was unnoticeable only under meticulous examination. “

Pocket-lint
“While the picture quality of the T700 is good, the power hungry touchscreen and not amazing picture playback means that this isn’t one to recommend if you are looking for a camera that will last you all holiday without recharging.”

“It’s rare to find a powerhouse fashion cam, but we were able to capture some pleasing images by keeping the ISO down and steadying the camera. Still, images are prone to blooming, blowing out whites, high levels of noise and other forms of artifacts.”

Digital Camera Review
“In our view, you can’t get anything with more aesthetic appeal at the moment, and so long as you have realistic expectations for the T700’s images, this alone may be reason enough to justify the purchase. If you’re the type who likes to spend time dissecting the details of your shots, however, the T700 will give you plenty to agonize over.”

“It takes a picky reviewer to be disappointed with the Sony T700’s image quality. The casual photographer with a Sony T700 is mostly going to be looking at resampled, smaller images than full resolution prints — and probably mostly on that gorgeous 3.5-inch screen because the camera can store about 988 high resolution images internally (and over 1,500 medium resolution images).”

RegHardware
“For the most part produces good pictures and offers superb internal storage capacity. But it’s not the easiest of cameras to operate, and you pay for the slim design and large LCD screen with a shorter battery life.”

“It looks great and will appeal anyone who is style conscious. Looking at the price tag I expect outstanding picture quality. The Sony DSC T700 does not quite hit those heights, but is still more than capable of decent snapshots.”

DPExpert
“This camera is a surprise. We took one look at it and thought: “Party fashion accessory” and expected nothing from it. However, behind the eye-catching, feminine appearance there lurks a decent camera. The touch screen goes beyond the gimmicky into the seriously useful, but we’re not sure that we could live with a camera that always looks smudgy with finger prints.”

TrustedReviews
“Has excellent build quality, respectable performance and image quality that will be more than sufficient for most casual snapshot situations. It has some useful and entertaining features, but its primary feature is its style.”

CNET Australia
“For everyday situations, picture quality is relatively good, with strong but not overly saturated colours captured in a variety of situations. There is, however, a loss of sharpness at some exposures, and when viewing at increased magnifications.”

PhotoReview
“Exposures were generally well-balanced and metering was accurate in a wide variety of shooting conditions. The test camera seemed capable of covering a slightly wider dynamic range than many other small-sensor digicams we’ve reviewed.”

CNET
“Overall, the experience offered by the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T700 is enjoyable, especially if your main objective is to shoot lots of pictures in good light and then show lots of people the pictures you took.”
