Looks like September 26, 2006 is the launch date. Details are sketchy but it appears the SD14 will integrate a new, higher resolution Foveon X3 image sensor.
Unlike conventional CMOS and CCD image sensors, Foveon sensors are able to capture 3 colors (R,G,B) at each pixel, giving it three times the (color) resolving capabilities. The last Sigma DSLR was named the SD10 and used a Foveon sensor that features 3.3-megapixels per pixel for a total of 10.0-megapixels. Speculation has it that the SD14 will be using 4.7-megapixel Foveon image sensor that would give it an equivalent 14-megapixel resolution.
