RegHardWare – 27 October’07 – reviews the Samsung S85 and nited that at times the colors seemed a little washed out. Here’s an excerpt from their review verdict -
“All in all, we liked this camera. Yes, it’s a little on the large side and Samsung seems to have thrown everything but the kitchen sink under the bonnet. But at this price, you can’t complain. It’s a camera for the masses and it’s well worth considering if you’re on a tight budget or simply don’t want to take out a second mortgage to buy your next digital camera.”
TrustedReviews – 16 October’07 – reviews the Samsung S85 and notes that the image quality is wonderful for such a low cost camera. Here is the review verdict -
The Samsung S85 may look a little dull, but it is a well-made camera with a useful range of features, very good performance and surprisingly excellent picture quality. It has a few odd quirks and is a bit fiddly to operate, but considering the sub-£100 price tag it represents astonishing value for money.

I just got my S85 a few days ago. It’s been several years since I purchased my last pocket digital, and I am absolutely floored by what how far we have come since then. My new Samsung is four times the camera, at one third the price, in a package that is smaller and lighter.

I have this camera and seem to have problems with the batteries. I have tried every kind and can only get about 25 pictures out of a fresh set of batteries. (disposable or rechargable) Anyone else have this problem?

I just bought this camera and used it on a trip to Paris and noticed the same thing Nancy did – a problem with batteries. It ate through about 5 packs of 4 AA batteries after just one week! I am absolutely floored about this and would like to know if this is some kind of defect (my sister-in-law also experienced the same problem with hers).

I have found if you use anything below 2300mah nimh batteries it will not perform for very long at all. Get a good set of 2600 or above nimh’s and you will fix the problem!! Love this camera – been looking to upgrade to something better but can’t find anything worthy without spending a fortune!

Love the camera if it would work better. It goes thru batteries real fast but also comes up with distorted pictures, half of them as if cut in half and the bottom half retaken on the top half. It’s crazy! Anyone else?

I bought this camera for 71 dollars at overstock.com! Other stores has it going for 130 all the way up to 300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine also suffers from the same problem. Get a good set of high-capacity rechargeables. I think the camera requires a high startup current which most batteries are unable to sustain.
