LetsGoDigital - 10/9/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Samsung GX-1S and they write - “Samsung’s first DSLR, the GX-1S, is a model that happens to be slightly outdated already. However, this does not mean the Samsung GX-1S is a bad camera, in fact, not at all. The Samsung GX 1S is an attractive compact digital SLR camera that leaves very little to be desired as far as clarity and simplicity are concerned. What’s more, it is a camera that will grow along with the skills of the user; the Samsung 1S offers a wide variety of options that will come in more than handy as you expand your photographic skills. This also makes the Samsung GX-1S a very suitable camera for the experienced photographer looking for a compact SLR camera, perhaps in addition to a larger model. Because the GX 1S truly is a small camera.”
Popular Photography - 06/27/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Samsung Digimax GX-1S and they write -
“As far as introductions go, Samsung could’ve done far worse than the GX-1S, with its nice handling, pleasing picture quality, and compatibility with scads of existing lenses. But it’s also an aging platform whose resolution trails that of the rest of the league. And in the hot DSLR category, “good enough” is rarely good enough.”
MacWorld - 06/19/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Samsung Digimax GX-1S and they write -
“This simple design makes the camera very easy for beginners to learn and use, but its feature set provides all of the options a beginning to intermediate photographer would want. It includes a full assortment of Priority and Manual modes, as well as auto bracketing, drive modes, adjustable ISOs (from 100 to 1,600 in 1-stop increments), three metering modes, and raw format.”
DC Resource - 06/19/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Samsung GX-1S and they write -
“If you’re looking for your first digital SLR then the Samsung Digimax GX-1S is worth a look. It’s inexpensive, well built, and it performs well in most respects. It’s also a good choice if you have some Pentax lenses already, since they’ll most likely work just fine on the GX-1S. Naturally, if you’ve got a lot of Canon or Nikon lenses already then I can’t see jumping ship for the GX-1S, but if you’re new to D-SLRs, check this one out.”
PC Magazine - 06/12/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Samsung GX-1S and they write -
“The Samsung Digimax GX-1S is a little expensive when compared with competitors such as the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, considering that the Rebel XT offers more controls, better image quality, and a larger selection of lenses. As with any digital SLR, it’s best to get your hands on the GX-1S before making a decision. Its small size and thoughtful design may make it your obvious first choice.”
Ephotozine - 06/12/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Samsung GX-1S and they write -
“At this budget price point, the Samsung GX-1S packs a lot of features into a compact body. I was impressed by the inclusion of an 11-area autofocus system, which works well, locking onto most subjects quickly and precisely. I was less impressed by the level of noise produced at high ISO settings. It is certainly not class leading performance, although images taken at these settings are still very usable.”
Digital Camera Info - 4/20/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Samsung GX-1S digital camera and they write. “The GX-1S is a puzzling camera. It seems to be a re-branded Pentax rather than a new camera from Samsung. Our hope had been that Samsung would shake up the entry-level DSLR market with its own products, but this camera is either a Pentax or so close that the differences really don’t matter.”
Samsung GX-1S Initial Press Release
