Imaging-Resource – 31 October’07 – reviews the Samsung Digimax L700 and cautions that the cameras autofocus isn’t very reliable.. Here’s and excerpt from their review verdict -
“The Samsung L700 is a reasonably attractive, nicely built and affordable digital camera aimed at the entry level end of the market. Despite some quirks, the design is reasonably user-friendly, and image quality is fair at lower ISO sensitivities. Crank the sensitivity up a bit though, and the resulting images get rather soft and noisy. Add in an autofocus system that fails to achieve focus lock too often in low light, and you won’t want to be shooting in those conditions too much. The lens design shows promise in terms of sharpness and has relatively minimal distortion, but needs smaller steps across the zoom range and does suffer from lens flare as well as chromatic aberration unusually far into the center of the image.”
Megapixel – 6/29/2007 – reviews the Samsung L700 writes, “Although very compact, the Samsung L700 is very pleasant to use. Its controls are comfortably positioned and respond accurately and quickly. Similarly, the monitor, which has an excellent high resolution — provides a sharp and lively image.”
Pocket-lint – 6/7/2007 – reviews the Samsung L700 writes, “The L700 is one of those digital cameras, that isn’t brilliant, nor is it shockingly bad, its just mediocre.

As we’ve said in the review, the design isn’t really that inspiring, the picture quality average and the price reflects this.”
ePhotozine – 5/18/2007 – has tested the Samsung Digimax L700 against the Pentax Optio M30 and here’s the verdict, “Despite the fact that the colour chart tests were virtually identical, how the processing engines work is markedly different. The L700 is sharper in most tests, it has better colour fringing control and the image quality is markedly better with less noise and bittiness throughout, all the way through the ISO range. So, the M30 is nicer looking, handles better, but the L700 makes up for the more industrial approach with image quality that whups the M30’s shiny metal ass. The winner of this head to head, is therefore, the Samsung L700.”
CNET – 5/16/2007 – reviews the Samsung L700 writes, “For such an inexpensive camera, the Samsung L700 has plenty of features more advanced users will be interested in. Its various controls are a great boon in the sub-$200 category. While its photos aren’t perfect, the camera’s above-average white-balance system almost makes up for the detail-softening artifacts in its images.”
TrustedReviews – 4/21/2007 – reviews the 7 megapixel Samsung L700 and thinks the camera’s performance is adequate, but that’s about it. They continue to write, “With the L700 Samsung has produced the very definition of an average 3x zoom digital compact camera. It has no real weak points apart from its poor low-light focusing and over-exposure in bright light, but little about it stands out either. It is well made, performs adequately, has all the features and options you really need and takes reasonably good pictures. It is also reasonably good value for money, but it lacks the style or innovation of some other recent Samsung models.”
