“The Ricoh R10 is a stylish, well-designed and well-made camera with an unusual specification and some innovative and useful features. It has a clever and easy-to-use interface, great handling and impressively fast performance, however it is let down badly by inferior image quality, especially at higher ISO settings, and also poor low-light focusing.”

“While this is certainly Ricoh’s best R series yet, its release only eight months after the R8 means it could be a case of too little, too soon. It hasn’t lost any of the quirky eccentricity that makes Ricoh’s compacts so likeable, but when its refined functionality is weighed against our expectations, we can’t help feel a little let down by the Ricoh R10″

“Overall, the R10’s picture quality is acceptable for most photographic pursuits, but the lack of a full manual mode means that enthusiasts should probably look elsewhere. It’s a good camera for anyone who wants an automatic point-and-shoot, and it excels in macro mode.”

“The R10 handles great and is very well built, in this respect it is the best compact point and shoot camera you can find. I have really enjoyed using the R10 and have got some very nice pictures with it, some of them that I could not have gotten with any of my other cameras.”

“Sadly, it hasn’t made enough headway with image noise. On the bright side, the camera is so versatile and adjustable that diving into the menus will give you a decent chance to minimize image-quality problems.”

“As a consumer, I’d be happy to own this camera from a looks point of view, but as a photographer, I can’t accept that level of image quality.”

“If you can stick to the lower ISO settings, and want a compact wide angled digital camera with some unique features such as an electronic “spirit level”, 1:1 aspect ratio photos, a 28mm wide angle lens, and lots of customizable functions then the R10 is to be recommended.”

“As is common on recent cameras the R10 has both face detection and vibration correction. It’s a 10-megapixel camera and picture quality was generally impressive. Although we found the colours perhaps a little washed out that will be down to personal taste.”

“There’s still one big problem with this camera which there’s no getting away from – noisy images. Sadly the R8 and now the R10, with their increased resolution of 10 megapixels, have both taken a clear backwards step, with noise and blurring of detail evident at the relatively slow speed of ISO 200.”

“With excellent image quality and performance to match, the Ricoh R10 is a very capable and user friendly point and shoot. Featuring a 7.1x wide optical zoom lens, 10-Megapixel imaging sensor, 3″ LCD screen and full auto shooting modes, it is extremely versatile and can be used by anyone in the family or office.”
