Peterson’s Photographic Magazine will no longer be published and the Website will no longer receive support.
Peterson’s Photographic Magazine made its debut as a monthly magazine for photo enthusiasts in May, 1972.
In May of 2005 they unveiled a new, fast-paced instructional format targeting the passion of the photo enthusiast. A report was issued indicating that Photographic is one of the company’s top performing magazines on the newsstand in ‘05.
They will be consolidating their resources toward the refinement - both in print and online - of their sister publication Shutterbug, [Peterson's Photographic Magazine Comes To An End]

Does anyone know when the switchover to Shutterbug is supposed to happen. I too had just renewed my subscription and would prefer a refund rather than a subscription to a different magazine that I do not want nor would I ever subscribe to on my own. Just because they have my money does not give them the right to arbitrarilly keep it and do with it what they please. They should refund the unused portion of my subscription or give me a choice of magazines from which I may or may not choose to subscribe.

Very unhappy that Photographic will no longer be offered to its many readers.
I to did not know that I would be sent a magizine that I did not and would not have ordered.I may have no choice now, but Shutterbug can be sure that I WILL NOT renew. If I had wanted another magizine, I would have ordered one!
UNHAPPY!

WHAT???
Photograhic was my favorite mag. I purchased it every month because it was the only magazine that still had articles that were usefull to film users.
The format was great, the advertising was not over the top, and the tips and tricks were awesome.
To bad Shutterbug hasn’t taken some of the ideas from them.

I agree with David!!! It was one of the only magazines around that still had useful information. All the other mags are mostly full of ads.
Why should we pay for advertisements??? !!!!!!
It didn’t really matter if you used digital or film. The articles gave great tips and info. I enjoyed looking at the photographer’s work and reading how they achieved it. The other mags are more about comparing and selling equipment. I am more interested in how to use what I have to the best of my knowledge and expanding that knowledge.
They should ask us what we want not just shove it down our throats. They sent me PCPhoto, which is useless to me. I am strictly a SLR film user and don’t really care to read comparisons of digital point and shoots all day.
I am sadened by the abrupt end of this great publication, especially since we all still have a big chunk of subscription left.
Worries me how long Outdoor Photographer will be around. They still have articles and tips.

I have wondered why I was receiving the wrong magazine. I loved Peterson’s - I started subscribing in 1994 and I learned a huge amount from your magazine. You will be missed and leave a significant void.

Petersons was the only magazine worth having. It gave you many tips and helped a lot of us become better photographers. There is a large hole here to be filled by this departure within the photography community.

I still couldn’t put myself together… I am carefully browsing the web to buy a new digital SLR. I have chose one which fits me well. And then, I thought, just to be sure, let me check a review at Petersen’s. How big was my surprise to find this sad news out…

I am an up and comingNature Photographer who once subscribed to Petersons Photographic, I found the Magazine very Informative. It’s sister pubication is no more than a consumer publication, I refuse to buy it, I am trying to become a better photographer not buy more gear. I am Dissapointed in the change over still to this day.

It is back! I picked, the “first” one as they call it, up at the airport the other day.
