ThinkCamera - 09 February’08 - reviews the Olympus Stylus 830 and notes the cameras ISO performance is better than average. Here’s a summary of their review -
“For the person who wants a fast starting predictable and easy-to-use digital-camera the 830 may just hit the sweet spot. Photo enthusiasts will probably get bored with the lack of manual controls, but this is not the target group for this camera. One pretty cool feature is the 830’s guide feature which displays a series of scenarios and indicates key options as a series of thumbnail options on the LCD. NEAT!”

TrustedReviews - 11 January’08 - reviews the Olympus Stylus 830 and points out the picture quality is almost the same as the previous model the 780 even though the 830 is more expensive. Here’s a summary of their review -
“Actually a pretty nice camera the reviewer notes. Zoom range is better than average plus it’s weather proof which in itself makes it pretty attractive. another feather in the 830’s cap is its mechanical image stabilization. In it’s price range it’s head-to-head with its competitors however it’s less than optimal picture quality drag it appeal down.”

DigitalCameraReview - 19 December’07 - reviews the Olympus Stylus 830 and thinks this cameras interface is just too confusing. Here’s an excerpt from the review conclusion -
“While the Olympus only seriously disappointed in a few of the test categories in this review, it’s fair to say that the overall package just never comes together cohesively. Accessibility issues and ease of use top the list of concerns, and soft, noisy images and poor flash and night shot performance make the camera difficult to get good shots with in common snapshot situations. The weatherproofing is a nice feature, and one distinguishing mark for the Stylus 830, as is its 5x zoom. But in a crowded field of easy-to-use compacts, this camera simply fails too often and doesn’t impress enough to earn a strong recommendation.”

Photoxels - 17 December’07 - reviews the Olympus Stylus 830 and wrote this camera is really only good for people who will be using 4 x 6 prints. Here’s an excerpt from the review conclusion -
“The Olympus Stylus 830 is well designed, fast in operations and the all-weather feature means that you can use it most anywhere. Improvement suggestion: image quality gives results that are good enough for most snapshooters, but more advanced photographers would prefer at least one quality level up. The LCD gain up feature is easily the best we’ve seen and its many Scene Modes make it point-and-shoot simple to use.”

DigitalCameraInfo - 11 December’07 - reviews the Olympus Stylus 830 and notes the camera offers lots of features but in the end does not have very good image quality. Here’s an excerpt from the review conclusion -
“If portability and a mid-range zoom lens are of equal concern to you, the 8-megapixel Stylus 830 may at first glance be very attractive. The Olympus Stylus 830 has a slim body like many other point-and-shoots, but its 5x zoom lens reaches beyond the standard 3x. There are similarly priced models with longer zoom lens, but they’re not as thin.

However, a look beyond the specs reveals the Stylus 830 struggles with image quality. The camera suffers from poor color and white balance accuracy. Additionally, there is noticeable blurriness at the bottom of the picture frame, and it has a flawed, limited Movie mode. We prefer good image quality over portability.”

Steves-Digicams - 17 November’07 - reviews the Olympus Stylus 830 and thought the performance was really nice. Here’s an excerpt from the review conclusion -
“The performance and quality improvements that were made to the Olympus Stylus 830 from the previous models are welcomed. The only problem is the short battery life, which can easily be fixed with the purchase of a backup battery. The camera is still incredibly easy to use with a built in Guide and “Perfect Shot” preview, allowing anyone, beginner or novice, to take great looking pictures as soon as they pick it up. With a price of US$329 or less, it offer a good value for such a versatile ultra-compact digicam.”
