Imaging-Resource – 22 February’08 – reviews the Olympus Stylus 820 and thinks for the price you get a pretty good camera with 5x zoom. Here’s a summary of their review -
“Here’s a weather proof digital that has some pretty cool features. It’s small enough to tuck comfortably into a pocket and the LCD works really well even in bright sunshine, which is unusual. Shot-to-shot speed is a little slow but boy does the burst mode kick things into high gear. With lots of onboard guidance this camera should appeal to most consumers.”
Cameras.co.uk – 05 February’08 – reviews the Olympus Stylus 820 and if waterproof is important to you this camera is as good as any. Here’s a summary of their review -
“With a longer than normal zoom this camera is one you can pack to just about any location including wet ones. While the camera takes pretty good pictures it does suffer from sun glare. Ouch. ISO performance was pretty good, in fact, better than most compacts in low light situations.”
ePhotozine – 10 January’08 – reviews the Olympus Stylus 820 and thought it was nice looking camera just not impressive though. Here’s a summary of their review -
“It has the technology but lacks the resolution and high ISO performance. when you drop this camera into continuous mode it can fire off 11 shots before it stops and needs to clear the buffer. One of the problems is that to pull this off it drops the resolution down so far it is a real issue.m On the bight side because of the weatherproof build you can drag this camera out into the rain and mud for some really fun low resolution pictures.”
PhotoReview – 11 October’07 – reviews the Olympus Stylus 820 and noted the camera produced ISO 3200 pictures with surprisingly low noise. Here’s an excerpt from their review -
“Shots taken with the test camera looked bright and color-accurate and the shadow adjust function worked well to brighten up detail in shadowed areas – although it appeared to provide about 1/6EV of overall brightening. We noticed a few sharpening artifacts, suggesting that some processing is applied by default in the camera. Both purple and green fringes were evident towards the edges of shots taken in bright outdoor conditions.”
Steve’s Digicams – 11 October’07 – reviews the Olympus Stylus 820 and indicated the photos produced by the camera were good with accurate color and accurate exposures. Here’s an excerpt from their bottom line -
“The Stylus 820 is a welcomed addition to this “water resistant” Olympus line. It offers excellent image quality, a variety of scene modes, and a very useful in-camera guide to help the user along. With a very comfortable feel and an incredibly small size, it is a perfect little camera for on the go. Starts fast, but is a little more sluggish when it comes to overall shooting performance.”
