TrustedReviews reviews the Olympus Stylus 780 and writes;
“The Olympus Stylus (mju) 780 is a good all-rounder, with superior build quality, stylish and practical design and good performance including low light focusing. It has an effective mechanical image stabilization system and its wider-than-average 5x zoom range gives it versatility, however apart from these it is distinctly lacking in features, and the image quality could be better too. All in all though it is a good camera for outdoor snapshot photography, and especially for social or holiday photos.”
ePhotozine reviews the Olympus Stylus 780 and reminds us that this camera is targeted for the person who prefers auto settings. However the reviewer noted that as far as digital noise go this camera displayed the worst digital noise even at the lowest ISO setting of 80 than any compact digital camera they had tested. Ouch!
Only two metering modes and for some reason Olympus chose not to make center weighted metering one of the two was a huge oversight according to the reviewer.
Bottom Line: Slick looking camera however buyer beware, lots of digital noise with so so performance.

CNET.co.uk reviews the Olympus Stylus 780 and thought one of the camera best assets was its macro mode. The camera delivered close-ups with sharp detail and rich saturated colors. What really scored points with the reviewer was the mechanical image stabilization and high ISO performance. However, as the reviewer points out you can for less money get a truly waterproof camera that it’ll even accept SD cards.
Bottom Line: A weather resistant point-and-shoot that’s not particularly fast operationally.

LapTop Mag reviews the Olympus Stylus 780 and thinks taking pictures with the 780 is like digital photography 101, pretty easy with lot of choices. They particularly like the shooting modes and the on screen explanations. Another standout feature they liked was the really fast drive mode. They were all impressed with the fact that after firing off a sequence of 26 frames they were able to preview the photos without much lag time at all.
Bottom Line: Very fast camera with easy to use menus and superb photo quality.

Megapixel
“These guys were impressed with the Olympus Stylus 780 but what they really liked was the camera’s CCD stabilization system, in other words they were able to take pictures in very low light situations. Megapixel calls it a good camera that deliver excellent image quality. Be prepared to spend a little time leaning the menu system. The review felt the menu were overly complex and might frustrate some.”

Photography Review reviews the Olympus Stylus 780 and writes, “There are so many good things about the Olympus Stylus 780. It fits in your pocket, it’s quick, it’s weatherproof, the image stabilization works great, and the high ISO performance is amazing for a compact digital camera. But no matter how much I want to like it, I can’t ignore the 780’s lens problems. The Olympus Stylus 780 might have been a great camera. But not with this lens. Aside from the weatherproof body, there are other cameras that offer a lot of the same features and functionality. Unless you’re a photographer that shoots in bright, perfect light, where the lens won’t reveal its flaws, you don’t care about small details, or you need the weatherproof design, the 780 is likely to disappoint you, as it did me. Hopefully, the camera designers at Olympus will read this and go the extra mile on the next Stylus digital camera. I want it all. And I know they can do it.”
Good Gear Guide has reviewed the Olympus Stylus 780 and writes, “A brilliantly designed unit, the 780 will please a variety of consumers with its optical image stabilization, 5x optical zoom and high ISO sensitivities. Its pictures aren’t the best on the market but they are more than adequate for most uses.”
