Pocket-lint - 2/12/2007 - reviews the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and likes the image stabilization. They continue to they write - “I hand held some shots as slow as a quarter of second, though I was supporting my body on a pillar at the time. In short, the Mju provides an fairly impressive performance and a nice feature set, particularly considering its price.”

Cameras.co.uk - 2/13/2007 - has a video guide of the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and writes, “A feature I like is the in camera help guide. The purpose of this is to try to improve the standard of the photographs you take. It covers various subjects such as brightening a subject, adjusting the focus area and blurring the background. Having said that some of the tips are rather brief! It is still a helpful guide to anyone who is taking their first steps with photography or who would like to master the very basics.”

Unbeatable.co.uk - 1/11/2007 - reviews the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and likes it because it oozes style and class. They continue to they write - “Our initial thoughts about the Olympus Mju 750 were fairly accurate as it was impressive in many areas, but if Olympus had worked on the start-up time a little harder, the Olympus Mju 750 would be high on the list of best digital cameras. Good images produced and all for a very reasonable price.”

DigitalCameraReview - 11/21/2006 - reviews the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “Image quality on the Stylus 750 was good, but not amazing. My biggest complaint was some noticeable softness in the corners of the images. Images were also not as sharp as I prefer. However, colors and exposure were generally good. I highly recommend that you examine the sample images from our review and other reviews to form your own opinion. The speed of the camera was pretty average. Personally, I don’t really worry too much about start-up time, but it was around 2 seconds. Shot to shot time without flash was about 2 seconds. If you turn on the flash, you’ll have to wait a couple more seconds between shots for the flash to charge between shots. Shutter lag was quick enough to capture the moment, but only if you achieve a focus lock first. Without a focus lock, shutter lag is right under 0.6 seconds or so.”

ImagingResource - 11/21/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “Olympus’s Stylus 750 has Stunning good looks, but I was disappointed in its performance. Color just seemed unnatural, and I came home with far too many blurry images for a camera that has image stabilization. I really wondered if the review unit was just malfunctioning. But it wasn’t a mechanical issue. The thumbnails were very blurred, even when the image itself was not.”

Cameras.co.uk - 11/17/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “The Olympus Stylus 750 has a great specification. It is weatherproof, is more or less pocket sized, has a 5x optical zoom lens and image stabilisation. Another very useful feature is the built in photography guide. The problem is the camera is let down by its picture quality.”

Digital Trends - 11/6/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “Although the camera sounds good when looking at the specs, it is actual weak. For all its good points, it’s tough for me to recommend this camera because the overall quality of the photos lags behind the leaders. Continue your search—check out the Kodak and Panasonic mentioned here–and keep your non-weather-resistant camera out of the rain.”

DCResource - 10/30/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “Camera performance is average, at best. The Stylus 750 takes 2.5 seconds to startup, twice as long as competitive ultra-compacts. Focusing times are okay for the most part, but I did get a few sluggish focus times at the telephoto end of the lens. Low light focusing was quite poor: I think the Stylus 750 is the only camera in its class without an AF-assist lamp. Shutter lag and shot-to-shot times were average, though. Other disappointments in this area include a lackluster continuous shooting mode and below average battery life. The 750 also lacks support for the USB 2.0 High Speed standard.”

PCWorld - 10/25/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and rate it 67 out of 100. They continue to write - “In our lab tests, the 750 scored above the average in the sharpness test. Unfortunately, the camera performed just okay in other tests. The exposure and white balance on the test shots were off: Our prints looked a tad dark, and the white areas of our images had a slight yellow tinge. Battery life wasn’t great, either: The camera conked out after 201 shots, putting it below the average.”

CNET - 10/6/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and rate it 6.8 out of 10. They continue to write - “The Olympus Stylus 750 is a very strong point-and-shoot camera, though its attractive images are hindered by mediocre performance. It has no manual exposure controls and isn’t as responsive as we would like, but as a general snapshot camera, it’s still a very good choice. If you want a Stylus but don’t want to spend quite as much, the Olympus Stylus 740 is nearly identical to the 750. The Stylus 740 lacks image stabilization, and it performed a little bit quicker in flash recycle time, but otherwise is the exact same camera as the Stylus 750.”

PopPhoto - 10/4/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “Overall, we were happy with the images produced by the 7.1-megapixel CCD sensor. On-screen the photos appear sharp and vivid. In addition, they can be output to large-formats — up to poster sizes as large as 15 x 20 inches. We think users will enjoy the 750’s thin, sleek, take anywhere, all-weather design and the powerful 5x optical zoom.”

Computer Active - 9/6/2006 - has previewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “The Olympus Mju 750 is an easy-to-use pocket compact camera that will suit the undemanding snapper – or party animals likely to come into contact with a splash of water (or wine).”

Steve’s Digicams - 8/24/2006 - has previewed the 7.1 megapixel Olympus Stylus 750 and they write - “The Stylus 750 features an advanced combination of mechanical CCD-shift Image Stabilization and Digital Image Stabilization. CCD-shift Image Stabilization uses built-in electro-gyro sensors to record camera movement and adjust the CCD image sensor. This ensures that light remains centered on the image sensor to maintain image clarity despite a slight movement on the part of the photographer. Digital Image Stabilization Mode boosts ISO sensitivity and shutter speed so that images remain crisp and clear – free from the blur caused by moving subjects. The combination of the two Image Stabilization Technologies ensures the best image clarity in virtually any shooting environment.”

Camera Name Initial Press Release

London, 23 August 2006 – Photographers who’d like to get a little closer to their subjects should take a good look at the µ (mju) 740 and µ (mju) 750 from Olympus. Both cameras feature a new 5x optical zoom – great for scrutinising objects a bit further away – and a 7.1 million pixel CCD for photos bursting with detail. Remarkably, this extra zoom power has not affected the size, as both models feature a sleek, ultra-compact design and weatherproof* metal body – trademarks of the µ (mju) series. To make the most of that more powerful zoom, the µ (mju) 750 also boasts another innovation in the Dual Image Stabilization, for the ultimate safeguard against camera shake. As the photo is taken, a mechanical image stabiliser compensates for camera shake by carefully adjusting the position of the 7.1 million pixel CCD. At the same time, a high maximum ISO value gives further protection against blur – a feature also included in the µ (mju) 740. For exceptional shooting in low light or at night, the µ (mju) 740 and µ (mju) 750 are equipped with BrightCapture Technology, which is now also available in Movie mode.
