DigitalCameraReview has reviewed the Olympus Stylus 1020 and they write -
“HOverall I think the Olympus Stylus 1020 performed quite well, producing some great snapshots with little or no effort. The SteadyShot shake reduction feature on this camera worked very well, helping those shoot from the hip at any moment shots turn out clear and crisp. The only really odd aspect of this camera would be the lack of any onboard processing modes, leaving you with default settings and Photoshop after the fact.”

Buy-n-Shoot has reviewed the Olympus Stylus 1020 and they write -
“Here is a full featured and stylish compact digicam. The 10-megapixel imaging sensor and 7x optical zoom combined with the in-camera features make this a very capable and fun to use camera. It has excellent performance and quality, and will definitely make a great camera for anyone looking to take some creative photographs. The only thing that upset us was that this model is not weather-resistant like it’s predecessors. With a MSRP of US$350 it is a little pricey, but offer a good deal if you are looking for a camera with a little bit of extra power and some great features.”

TrustedReviews has reviewed the Olympus Stylus 1020 and they write -
“Whatever the marketing logic behind launching two such similar models, there’s no question that the mju 1010 and 1020 are good quality cameras, offering superior zoom range, great handling and decent performance, all in a stylish weather-resistant body. Image quality is generally good in most situations, but poor low light performance and an inferior video mode will limit their appeal as social snapshot cameras.”

DPExpert has reviewed the Olympus Stylus 1020 and they write -
“This camera looks the goods, and within limits it will produce results suitable for making small prints. It is point and shoot, and most users will leave the flash enabled, and that works well as fill light. While the ideal compact camera has fewer than 7 million pixels, has no gimmicks, a modest 3X zoom and an optical viewfinder, that won’t look sexy in the ads, so Olympus swims with the competition.”

London, 22 January 2008 – This season sees the arrival of three powerful yet elegant additions to the award-winning Olympus µ [mju:] series. Perfectly suited to the needs of today’s sophisticated and fashion-conscious consumers, the µ [mju:] 840, µ [mju:] 1010 and µ [mju:] 1020 offer users the choice of optical zoom levels ranging from 5x to 7x in remarkably thin and elegant casings. Integrated Dual Image Stabilization helps protect against blur caused by camera shake, while an extra large 2.7”/6.9cm HyperCrystal LCD affords a magnificent view for plenty of framing and reviewing ease. And with a suite of advanced imaging tools such as Face Detection Technology, these 8.0 and 10.1 Megapixel models represent a new generation for stylish compact photography. The Olympus µ [mju:] 840, µ [mju:] 1010 and µ [mju:] 1020 will be available from February 2008 at recommended prices of £199.99 for the µ [mju:] 840, £229.99 for the µ [mju:] 1010 and £269.99 for the µ [mju:] 1020.
These charming new models marry first-rate design with innovative technological advances to form the ideal combination of performance and style. Their striking colours and slim metallic bodies are augmented by outstanding image quality and processing speed thanks to Olympus’ advanced TruePic III image processor. Meanwhile, Dual Image Stabilisation provides double-barrelled protection against blur caused by camera shake – which comes in especially handy at the high levels of magnification these cameras provide. In addition, intelligent solutions such as Face Detection Technology have been integrated to ensure the flawless depiction of human subjects by automatically determining optimal exposure and sharpness settings. For significantly enhanced results in low-light conditions, BrightCapture Technology has also been included. Moreover, an extra large 2.7”/6.9cm HyperCrystal LCD enables the easy preview and review of shots with all your friends – even in direct sunlight.
µ [mju:] 1020
