TrustedReviews tests the Olympus FE-250 and offers the following verdict;
“With the FE-250, Olympus has redeemed many of the black marks gathered by previous models in the series. For a very reasonable price it offers excellent build quality, decent performance and excellent picture quality, while maintaining the simplicity and ease-of-use for which it was designed.”

Digital Camera Info examines the Olympus FE-250 and thinks its white balance system is inferior leaving you with odd colored photos. It would have been helpful if Olympus would have include some white balance presets. This camera falls short of most of the competitive models on the market.

Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a slick looking camera that’s easy to use and produces odd colored images this may be your camera.

Imaging Resource - 6/27/2007 - reviews the Olympus FE-250 and writes, “Attractive, compact and capable, the FE-250 was fun to shoot close-ups and middle-distance shots with, disappointing me only a little with landscapes. I particularly liked shooting at high ISO even though the image size was reduced to 3-Mp and the shots were really only usable for snapshot-size prints. And I was glad to have 15 fps performance (even at 3-Mp again) when I couldn’t wait five seconds between shots. It’s a bit expensive as entry-level gear goes, but it grows on you the more you use it.”

Digital Camera Review - 5/11/2007 - reviews the Olympus FE-250 and was impressed with the camera’s close-up portrait images when using the Portrait scene mode. They continue to write, “The FE-250 is the best performing model in the current FE lineup. While its image quality results are similar to the other models, it has the best overall operation speed. In particular, card access times are much better than its siblings. Otherwise, the FE-250 still has the slim, well-constructed metal body of the other FE cameras and all of the features that make it very usable for entry level users, like the built-in Guide system and plenty of on-screen help and descriptions.”

Steve’s Digicams - 3/30/2007 - reviews the Olympus FE-250 and was impressed with the camera’s close-up portrait images when using the Portrait scene mode. They continue to write, “Holding the “top of the line” spot in Olympus’ “FE” series for 2007, the FE-250 does offer some appealing features like 8-megapixels, 2.5-inch LCD, Digital Image Stabilization, etc. However, image quality and performance is not quite up to par with other consumer models in the US$250 - $300 price range. Therefore, I feel it only offers an “Ok value” for an ultra-compact in this category.”
