Steve’s Digicams
“I feel that it could use a boost in the Image Quality department, but overall the S620 will capture pleasing snapshots. With a street price, Nikon has created a nice compact model that is sure to be popular this year.”

“This is a fairly solid offering from Nikon. It takes a good photo, but perhaps lacks some of the more common buzz features. I found the camera very easy to use and it has a solid feel in the hand. I found this camera very quick to turn on and take shots.”

Digital Camera Review
“The Nikon Coolpix S620 is a very good digital camera, but in the final analysis, the S620 ends up right in the middle of the 12 megapixel ultracompact pack. That’s not necessarily a bad thing – higher-rated comparable cameras are not substantially better. Like most of its contemporaries, the S620 is probably not a good choice for those who like to shoot indoors or in low/dim light, but unlike many of its contemporaries the S620 features a wide-angle lens and the ability to capture stunning macro images.”

“The Nikon Coolpix S620 is a nice, stylish digital camera that (just) gets my recommendation. It’s straightforward to use and has overall good image quality. The Coolpix S620 is perfectly capable of producing big, good quality prints, if you’re willing to remove color fringing and perhaps some additional post processing on the computer. It’s just that the camera skimps on information display, manual controls and is lacking in the movie department.”

GoodGearGuide
“Like the Nikon CoolPix S630, the CoolPix S620 offers a maximum ISO sensitivity of 6400, though the results are far too noisy for anything other than tiny Internet thumbnails. Unfortunately, the CoolPix S620 lacks Nikon’s celebrated distortion control function. Consequently, lens distortion was slightly more prominent than usual, particularly when it came to landscape shots.”

“Picture quality is good, but the high-ISO capability has limited value. While the face-, smile- and blink-detection and subject-tracking features are clever, unfortunately they’re so clever that you might never figure out quite what they’re going to do and when. “

Pocket-lint
“The S620 is a very straightforward camera that performs well and takes good pictures. Overly noisy pictures could become an issue if you regularly shoot in low light conditions, however the contrast capabilities mean on the whole you’ll get nice well-balanced photos.”

Owner Feedback

I have tested this for a month, and I love it so much; I have now bought one for one of my daughters. This model as some professional reviews have said is a bit more practical for everyday situations, because of the wide angle. What it lacks in the Zoom, though the S630 is tempting; it makes up in speed, to handle all the above situations well. The controls are easy to operate. The high Megapixel count let you crop photos closer and still have a great picture; like the one I uploaded with the bird nesting. The anti-shake /vibration works well; to give you almost always clear shots, in these difficult situations.

The S620 – built for speed

Clocking in with a start-up time of just 0.7s, this is an extremely fast camera housed in a compact, well designed body. The S620 features 12.2 effective megapixels, a NIKKOR 4x zoom lens covering wide-angle 28mm (35mm-format equivalent), and a 2.7-inch, wide-viewing angle LCD monitor. Yet such a small body also houses a vast array of high-performance shooting features. Also unique for a compact digital camera, the S620 has a high sensitivity range up to ISO 6400 for low noise at full-size images. It also includes four anti-blur technologies, including lens-shift VR, and Motion Detection, new Blink Proof and Quick Retouch, Subject Tracking AF and Scene Auto Selector. The metallic body with its elegant curves is available in Bright Silver, Calm Black, Noble Purple and Precious Pink. It’s the obvious choice for anyone looking for a combination of performance and style.
