“Continuous shooting rates are disappointing, and the wide angle maximum aperture of f/3.5 lags behind the f/2.8 that seems to show up on many competitors. Removing the memory card is an awkward exercise for my average fingers due to the proximity of the chamber door. However, these are relatively minor annoyances on a camera that does so many other things quite well.”

“It does have one or two additional features such as the ability to take square photos and time lapse movies. It is mid range when it comes to picture quality. I found very little to dislike about the camera and it does a solid job.”

“The important new feature to note is the sensor-shift image stabilisation. As this unit has a larger than normal zoom lens for a compact (5x) this is particularly useful, allowing you to make the most of the bigger lens.”

“Although it isn’t without a couple of niggling faults, the Nikon CoolPIx S560 is a very pleasing camera to use. It has excellent handling, superior build quality, good performance and image quality, and is small, light and robust enough to take anywhere.”

Nikon needs to give a more accurate retail desscription of where to buy this camera!!! Not available at one single retail store (ie, Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples, Office Depot, Wolf Camera, Ritz Camera, or any other retail store).
I should be able to go into any of my local so called “authorized dealers” and be able to buy the S560 today, it is already the 1st week of November and Nikon said in their own August 8th, 2008 Press Release that it was to be available by early September 2008. Thats Crap! Its over 2 months later, and all I can find is Amazon.com online offering this camera for sale… SO? Any advice from anyone on when the Big Box Retail stores of choice will be truly offering the S560?… Nikon themselves cannot even intelligently give an answer to this!!! So much for brand loyalty! Will have to buy another!!!
I bought mine at Costco a month ago (10/08) I took it to Hawaii, and I just love it!
How does this camera handle in low-light areas? I have read that is is very poor to very good depending on the camera setup.
Thanks
I also bought mine at Costco about two days ago…It came with a travel case a 2 gig memory card and a few other things for $200.00, its a really awesome camera for its price. I’ve been playing around with it a lot and i haven’t really had a bad picture yet…if you change the picture and flash settings, low lit areas turn out great! I love it!
I absolutely hate this camera. I got it for Christmas and you can count out being able to use it in doors. The pictures are way too noisy no matter what ISO setting it is on. I had a super cheap camera from Wal Mart that was only an 8 MP and it took pictures a thousand times better than this one and you didn’t have any problems with the noise.
I just got this camera today,it didnt came with a travel case and memory card ;-(,but its ok,i just hope this camera works great,as what i read in the reviews there are positive and negative comments, well, let see how does d picture quality came out when i use this.
Don\’t buy!! My daughter bought this camera 3 monthes ago and it no longer turns on!
