“The performance of the Nikon Coolpix S210 does not exactly match its top notch appearance, but it is still satisfactory, considering that it is an economically priced digital camera. In terms of timing and shutter lag, the S210 performs well, considering it is not a more advanced camera on the DSLR level.”

“Small, tough and capable of giving you good results the Coolpix S210 is a good point and shoot snapper that neither too large in size or too expensive in price. There is a reason Nikon believe this to be the hero product for Christmas and we have had trouble faulting it.”

PCMag
“Sure, the Nikon Coolpix S210 is amazingly small, but size isn’t everything. Since its images aren’t very impressive, and its features don’t stand out in any way, it’s difficult to recommend.”

“I was disappointed that noise was a problem in my test shots starting at ISOs as low as 200. Shutter delay was another frustration; the S210 performs just a bit slower than other cameras in its class, resulting in missed opportunities (often) and blurred images (occasionally).”

“This really is a small digital camera. At 18mm wide it is one of the slimmest you will find. The camera is able to produce striking colors and bright images. This is a handy, snapshot camera.”

StevesDigicams
“The performance was a little slow for a consumer model in this class, but the quality of the images are good, and the size makes it one of the smallest and easiest to carry cameras on the market. With an MSRP of US$179, we feel this camera offers a good a deal for anyone who is in the market for a simple digicam that can fit into the smallest of pockets.”

CNET
“The good: Small, sleek, and attractive; some nice features for the money. The bad: Relatively slow; poor-to-average photo quality for its class. The bottom line: Though it’s stylish, affordable, and easy to use, the Nikon Coolpix S210 performance and photo quality aren’t nearly as pretty.”
Rating: ½½½½½

Actual Owner Feedback

“Easy to use with a variety of setting to best capture a sunset or other scenes. Cute unit. Would have preferred more optical zoom but could not find in a camera at this price range.”

“I’m so glad I chose this camera over the other options I had. The picture quality is amazing, the video quality is amazing and the battery life is amazing. It’s so simple and easy to use and you get wonderful results.”

“Unfortunately I was only able to take about 100 photos before I got a lens error message with this camera. For as much research as I had done before purchasing a camera, I wasn’t expecting to have this happen with a Nikon.”

January 29, 2008, Tokyo — Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the COOLPIX S210, a stylish new camera that’s a pleasure to carry and a joy to shoot with. Built on a custom application of Nikon’s innovative EXPEED digital image processing concept and incorporating the precision optics of a NIKKOR lens, the COOLPIX S210 places advanced shooting functions comfortably in the hand for greater fun with photography.

Outstanding imaging ability begins with 8.0 effective megapixels of sharp resolution. It gets even better with its digital image processing engine that faithfully reproduces fine details and subtle tones, delivers quick response, and maintains image quality and clarity when taking advantage of extended light sensitivity settings as high as ISO 2000. And completing the triad is the clarity and precision provided by a 3x Zoom-NIKKOR lens that covers a practical range from 38-114mm (35mm format equivalent) to ably capture everything from group shots to close-up portraits. Electronic VR image stabilization adds extra reassurance that the results will be sharper and clearer, especially in lower light or when shooting moving subjects.

As befits a fine photographic tool, the COOLPIX S210 is housed in a slim, quality-crafted aluminum body with gentle contours that fit comfortably in the hand. Functional beauty and classic camera appeal are the theme throughout, from the hairline treatment on the face to the clean design of the back with large control buttons and the user-friendly rotary multi selector carefully positioned to provide intuitive operation.
