What we have here is a camera that requires very little input which by the way is accomplished with a touch screen menu system. Like most cameras the S70 is going to appeal to a very specific group of people. Its touch screen and leather look-a-like are definitely attention getters. As the reviewer notes, for the money, you can get a better camera with a more practical control system.

Run this camera with full touch control. If graphic navigation is okay with you then the S70s menu system is pretty easy to navigate. Photo quality is really nice most of the time except the reviewer notes sharpness gets a bit fuzzy in more distant pictures.

The S70 is a really nice looking camera and will draw a lot of attention on its looks alone. Next people will notice the cool touch screen interface and nice wide angle lens. But in the final analysis these features don’t add up to make the whole S70 package highly recommended.

Honestly this camera was a little on the annoying side. All too often we ended up in the Home menu, even when we didn’t want to be. The culprit is the Home icon positioned in the bottom right corner. Photo quality in their eyes was mediocre due to a much too high pixel density. Plus they thought the touch screen was a step backwards in comparison to current technology.

“This camera with its great touchscreen controls earned my full recommendation. It does a wonderful job in bright outdoor light and is stuffed with really neat features and on top of that takes great images. If you’re after a neat touch screen compact camera here it is however, if you’ll be shooting low light or fast moving subject you might be better off looking at another camera.”

“I hate to say it but this camera is a terrible performer and the resulting photos are bad too. It’s big and a slow poke. Canon Powershots are way better, which is why Canon sells more compact cameras than Nikon, by a lot. I crossed my fingers and hoped that once the photos got onto my computer that all complaining about it being slow and bulky would be made up for by great photo quality. Wishful thinking on my part. The pictures were terrible with fuzzy corners no matter what I set the camera at.”
