ImagingResource - 3/15/2007 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Nikon Coolpix L6 and they write - “Where the Nikon Coolpix L6 disappointed me was in its image quality. Along with consistently blowing out highlights and producing color that lacked punch in all but the softest of lighting circumstances, the Coolpix L6 struggled in low light with its extremely inflexible and erratic ISO settings. I had a tough time capturing any decent shots in low light with the Nikon Coolpix L6 without turning on the flash. Also, many of my shots, particularly close-ups in the Macro mode, suffered from motion blur.”
TrustedReviews - 3/3/2007 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel entry level Nikon Coolpix L6 and they write - “The Nikon CoolPix L6 is a well-made, sensibly designed pocket compact that would be ideal for holiday snaps or general snapshot photography. Its exceptional battery duration means that it won’t let you down when you need it, and the excellent image quality means you won’t be disappointed by the results. If you can live with the slow performance and lack of low-light ability then it is excellent value for money.”
Steve’s Digicams - 3/1/2007 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel entry level Nikon Coolpix L6 and they write - “Nikon’s Coolpix L6 is a mixed bag. While this model does offer great image quality and some very appealing features, it is disappointing with its overall sluggish shooting performance. At about US$199 or less, it does offer a good value, as long as you don’t plan on capturing fast moving subjects (like kids running through the house.)”
DigitalCameraReview - 11/25/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel entry level Nikon Coolpix L6 and they write - “Overall, I’m very impressed with the Nikon Coolpix L6 - the camera is clearly designed to appeal to a specific target audience and it does a very good job of meeting the needs of that demographic. The camera is very user friendly and it consistently delivers surprisingly good images. It’s an excellent choice for busy folks and casual photographers who want a camera that’s compact enough to drop in a pocket and take along everywhere they go, tough enough to stand up to the rigors of modern life, cheap enough to be a real bargain, and if all that’s not enough, the L6 has the best battery life of any digicam in its class. I wouldn’t buy an L6 for me - but I would seriously consider buying one for my wife (who is a lifetime member of the L6’s target audience).”
CNET - 10/30/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel entry level Nikon Coolpix L6 and they rate it 6.2 out of 10. “While we were not pleased with the inability to select ISO, the Coolpix L6’s biggest drawback is its glacially slow performance, especially with flash enabled. If you can get past the fact that you’ll have to wait anywhere from 2.5 to 8.1 seconds between shots, and you like the idea of fully automated shooting, the Coolpix L6 could be a good choice. But your best bet is to spend a little extra cash and step up to a faster camera.”
