PhotographyReview - 16 October’07 - reviews the Kodak EasyShare Z885 and noticed the exposure metering was inconsistent. The following is an excerpt for the pro review -
“After spending a fair amount of time with the Kodak Z885, I just can’t bring myself to recommend it. I think people that are looking for a $200 digital camera should look at a different camera or consider spending more. There is too much that’s likely to disappoint with the Z885. However, if you are already invested in the Kodak dock system and are looking for something with a lens that has a little more reach and is still pretty pocketable, then the Z885 is worth looking at.”

ImagingResource - 10 October’07 - reviews the Kodak EasyShare Z885 and thought it is a nice design but really slow to start up. The following is an excerpt for the review -
“Overall, it was a mixed bag. The Kodak Z885 was able to make some good snapshots for a low priced camera, but its high ISO feature and supposed digital image stabilization left much to be desired. Movie mode was good, and so was the camera’s connectivity to the many EasyShare printer docks. Image quality is good up to about ISO 400, with reasonable clarity considering the 8-megapixel resolution, but noise suppression starts to tamp detail down from ISO 200 on up. Prints from the Kodak Z885 look good at ISO 400 up to 8×10, and ISO 1,600 is usable for 4×6, but avoid the higher ISO unless you want to save time and money on making water color paintings, because that’s just what the output looks like at ISO 3,200 to 8,000. The Kodak Z885 is not a bad snapshot camera on a budget.”

PopPhoto reviews the Kodak EasyShare Z885 and writes;
“Although the camera lacks a focus assist lamp, it focuses quickly even in dim conditions with little detail. In normal shooting mode, its 36-180mm f/2.8-5.1 lens focuses only to 3 feet at tele position; you need to switch to macro mode to get closer. Not a big hassle, but an extra step. One more gripe: It comes with disposable oxy-alkaline batteries rather than a set of rechargeables. Still, with the Kodak Z885, your bucks buy you a lot of camera.”

ePhotozine reviews the Kodak EasyShare Z885 and writes;
“The Z885 seems to under perform in some areas and perform well in others. The features are well balanced for the price so that the kind of person buying this camera will not be overwhelmed by it, the zoom is adequate for the price as is the resolution. However, the focus range is appalling in both auto and macro modes. the image stabilizer is only digital and the continuous shooting capability is rubbish.”

CNET.co.uk reviews the Kodak EasyShare Z885 and writes;
“With plenty of manual controls and a nice, 5x lens, the Kodak EasyShare Z885 offers a lot of bang for its relatively low price. Its high-ISO shots leave a lot to be desired but the flexibility and feature set make this shooter a pretty appealing camera, comparable to the satisfying Samsung S850.”

Megapixel reviews the Kodak EasyShare Z885 and writes;
“In view of its manufacturer’s suggested retail price, the Kodak EasyShare Z885 is a camera that is destined to be at the top of anyone’s short list when considering the purchase of a camera with a longer than average zoom and a high resolution. While its monitor offers a comparatively low resolution, that drawback is quickly forgotten when the first photos captured with the camera are viewed. The color rendition the camera yields is excellent and, as long as they are noise-free, images remain detailed after the compression process.”
