Kodak’s EasyShare V610 is a 6.1 megapixel Bluetooth enabled dual lens camera. The V610 uses two Schneider-Kreuznach C-Variogon all-glass prism zooms (and two CCDs) to cover a much wider 10x range (equivalent of 38-380mm). The V610 features a 2.8-inch LCD, Bluetooth wireless technology and sensitivity up to ISO 800.

More Kodak EasyShare V610 Reviews
Steve’s Digicams – 3/5/2007 – has reviewed the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and writes, “The Kodak Easyshare V610 is a unique Ultra-Zoom in a stylish compact case and has a street price of $250 or less. I really liked this little digicam for all the zoom power packed into such a small size. 40X zoom is in the range of spotting scopes yet the V610 is much smaller and fits just about anywhere. With its easy to use controls, Kodak’s PERFECT TOUCH and Anti-blur Technologies, the V610 will make a great first digicam for newbies and is also a good choice as a second camera for those with a bag full of dSLR equipment. Since this camera is part of the Kodak Easy System you can easily edit your pics with the included software, share your pictures over the Internet, or dock with an Easyshare printer and print your photos at home.”
Digital Photographer Mag – 10/30/2006 – (October 2006 Issue) has reviewed the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and here’s the verdict – “The V610 does not offer aperture or shutter priority modes and no manual control. It’s not a giant leap to imaging future dual lens models with image stabilization and smooth continuous zooming, not to mention more exposure controls and slightly quicker response time.”
RegHardware – 10/11/2006 – has reviewed the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and here’s the verdict – “”My worries about this camera revolve around the issue of image blur from camera shake. The camera’s noise control is good but not good enough at ISO 800, which is a shame because it’s the only option open to you to get faster shutter speeds at those longer focal lengths.
Despite this, the Kodak EasyShare V610 is a remarkably compact camera with an impressive zoom range and produces the sort of shots most snappers will be more than delighted with.”
Digital Camera Shopper Mag – 10/11/2006 – (Semptember 2006 issue) has reviewed the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and here’s the verdict – “”Almost all the time color and tone performance was impressive while sharpness was very good with both lenses. As we hoped, the provision of two different zoom lenses also reduced distortions at each end of the mighty zoom.
Cameras.co.uk – 10/10/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and writes – “The Kodak Easyshare V610 certainly offers something different. A 10x optical zoom lens in a pocket sized camera body. At the time of writing this review it is the smallest digital camera available offering this zoom capacity. Picture quality does not quite hit the highs other cameras manage, but the size and zoom will be attractive to many.”
DCMag – 9/30/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and writes – “Kodak’s innovative twin-lens, that first appeared on the V560, was a headline grabber. Now with the V610 theres still no sign of a copy from competitors. However, the image quality sometimes leaves a little to be desired, especially when compared to the (admittedly larger) super zooms out there which offer up-close imaging.”
Lets Go Digital – 9/18/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and writes – “All in all we can conclude that the Kodak EasyShare V610 is an interesting camera with a nice zoom range. The road Kodak took with the V570 has led to the Kodak V610, but it is a pity that Kodak forgot to improve a few aspects along the way. Especially typical camera characteristics such as ISO and image stabilisation should be worked out again on the drawing board. At face value the Kodak EasyShare V610 stands for what it does, but looking at the competition we see that there are more possibilities.”
Digital Camera Review – 9/13/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and writes – “The Kodak Easyshare V610 is in a very small club – micro-cams with 10X zooms. So the major question facing potential purchasers is this: does the V610 really offer a pocketable alternative to a bulkier long zoom digicam like the Canon S3 IS, the Panasonic FZ50, or the Sony H5? The answer, if Kodak had included IS, would have been a resounding YES.
Since Kodak chose not to include IS the answer is a bit more complicated. The V610 is a truly unique camera and it will offer many users a level of convenience, capability, and pocketability that is available almost no where else, but this micro-cams pitifully weak battery and Kodak’s failure to include image stabilization land the V610 solidly in the “could have been” category.”
PopPhoto has new head-to-head shoot-out between the Kodak Easyshare V610 and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 and they write – “Overall, because neither camera scored a knockout, our three-judge panel awarded a two-to-one split decision to the Panasonic over the Kodak. Its MEGA O.I.S., faster maximum aperture at both wide and tele, less lens distortion, and more secure handling make it the better choice. Despite scoring worse in noise, the Panasonic, at $100 less than its competitor, is a better value.”
DenGuru – 9/9/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and irate it 3 out of 5. They continue to write – “The Kodak EasyShare V610 blurs the boundaries between ultracompacts and superzooms. But it needs to focus a little more on quality—and it could focus better at extreme zoom settings, too.”
PCMag – 8/30/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and irate it 3 out of 5. They continue to write – “The Kodak EasyShare V610 blurs the boundaries between ultracompacts and superzooms. But it needs to focus a little more on quality—and it could focus better at extreme zoom settings, too.”
DPInterface – 8/27/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and writes – “The Kodak EasyShare V610 is a compact camera with a 10X zoom range and big LCD. Despite being an “ultra-zoom” camera, the V610 has more in common with compact point-and-shoot cameras. The V610 is different from other cameras in some ways such as having Bluetooth and built-in panorama stitching. Other than that are the standard point-and-shoot features like a heap of scene modes, standard performance, a good movie mode and image quality which is almost on-par with others.”
DPExpert – 8/14/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and writes – “No image stabilisation; noisy (grainy) LCD and very slow write time to the SD memory card meaning a long pause between shots. The camera reverts to Auto every time it is turned on. Preferred setting can be stored in a custom Scene Mode and recalled with a couple of button presses. Cumbersome!”
DPReview – 8/10/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and notes the zoom mechanism is annoyingly slow – “The V610 is a beautifully designed camera that has instant appeal (everyone here loved it when it came out of the box), and the innovative twin lens/CCD system is a clever solution to the limitations of lens size that keeps most ultra compact cameras firmly in the 3x zoom range. As it stands, I’d say this; if you want a really compact camera that performs superbly in all conditions.”
PC World – 8/3/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and rates it 67 out of 100 – “Still, what makes this camera shine–10X zoom, compact design, Bluetooth, photo-stitching, and ease of use–just may be enough to compensate for its shortcomings. It’s a reasonable choice for casual photographers.”
Photoxels – 8/1/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and note that with Kodak V610’s ultra-tele 380mm lens, you can get real “close and personal” while staying quite a distance away – “The Kodak EasyShare V610 Dual Lens is a one-of-a-kind digital camera that gives well exposed, good to very good quality images straight out of the camera at ISO 64. Its 10x optical zoom and 380mm tele lens should be a major selling point for many who desire or require that reach: it gives you a new perspective and opens up many new opportunities for great pictures.”
Quesabesde – 07/24/2006 – a Spanish site (Google Translated) reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and they write –
In Favor:
- The system of double optics makes possible to integrate a zoom lens of 10 increases in a really compact body.
- The general behavior of the optics is remarkable.
- Precision of autofocus in most of the cases, even in scenes with little light.
- Remarkable agility in the speed of operation.
- The Bluetooth connection, in addition to a newness, is very useful for the transmission of images.
- Videos of remarkable quality.
Macworld 7/21/2006 – reviews the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 and they write –
“With a long-range 10X optical zoom, Kodak’s EasyShare V610 can bring the farthest subjects into full, detailed view. Unfortunately, this dual-lens camera also has a propensity for blurred photos at its highest zoom levels, plus disappointingly short battery life. What makes this camera shine – its zoom, Bluetooth capabilities, and large LCD screen – may be enough to compensate for its shortcomings.”
Imaging Resource – 07/21/2006 – has reviewed the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and they write –
“The Kodak V610 is a delight to use. The 40x digital zoom will take you places you haven’t been before with surprisingly little dropoff in quality. Bluetooth provides a handy wireless protocol you’ll never leave at home for sharing images between devices. The Kodak V610’s controls are easy to get used to and well laid out, the screen is large enough for immediate gratification, and the special features are actually useful, adding to the fun this camera delivers. Pop the Kodak V610 on a camera or printer dock and the fun continues, with easy 4×6 printing and image transfers to Kodak’s easy-to-use EasyShare software on your computer.”
PopPhoto – 07/12/2006 – has a new review for the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and they write – “The Kodak EasyShare V610 is not perfect–but it is a stylish record-setting camera that looks great. If you’re looking for a super cool ultramodern camera for snapshots of subjects nearby and far away that you can slip into the pocket of your favorite jeans, this might be the one for you.”
ThinkCamera – 7/12/2006 – has a new review for the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and they write –
“This is a really nice camera and there is so much I like about it. I like the sleek metal finish, the black etched front, the massive range of features, the huge zoom range… Kodak have pulled off an amazing feat in getting a 38 – 380mm zoom in such a tiny body and then just kept on adding feature after feature. It is so nearly a great camera but something has to give in a design like this and a less than perfect screen and lack of image stabilisation are the prices to pay for a sleek, fully featured camera you can take anywhere.”
DC Resource – 06/27/2006 – has a new review for the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and they write –
“There are a few other negatives that are worth mentioning. A big one is the lack of image stabilization: it’s awfully hard to get a sharp photo on an ultra zoom camera without it. Sure, you can turn up the ISO sensitivity to compensate for that, but that increases the noise significantly. While the V610’s flash is comparable to other ultra compact cameras, it’s not comparable to what a “regular” ultra zoom offers. And finally, I wish the camera had a few manual controls — give me white balance at least.”
Digital Camera Info has published a new review for the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and indicates it creates a new genre of digital cameras. They continue to write – “This trendy EasyShare also has 22 scene modes, with a text guide that helps beginners distinguish between them. All users will appreciate the Kodak Perfect Touch technology that is built in to the playback mode, which brightens pictures and saves them as separate files or overwrites the originals. Unfortunately, this feature cannot fix blurred pictures. That would be helpful, as the V610 can’t focus too well unless the flash is used – and the flash makes already unnatural colors look even worse. The camera’s biggest performance issues are substantial shutter lag, terribly slow processing time, and a very short battery life. Its other major downfall is the zoom control on the 10x lens system: when going from the wide lens to the telephoto lens, users have to jump from 114mm to 130mm.”
PC Magazine – 5/17/2006 -has just finished reviewing the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and rates it 3 out of 5. The review continues – “The Kodak EasyShare V610 blurs the boundaries between ultracompacts and superzooms. But it needs to focus a little more on quality—and it could focus better at extreme zoom settings, too.”
Computer Active – 5/17/2006 – has published a new review of the 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and rates it 4.5 out 5. The review continues – “Even with the steadiest of hands, taking blur-free shots using a zoom this powerful is tricky but the V610 uses image stabilisation technology to counter this.”
Photography Blog – 5/10/2006 -has published a new review for the Bluetooth enabled 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and rates it 4.5 out 5.
“Ultimately all this doesn’t stop me from strongly recommending the V610. A 10x zoom lens in a stylish pocket camera, together with great ease-of use, a brilliant LCD screen, wireless support and a wealth of playback and sharing options is a combination that is hard to ignore. The V610 may be just a simple point and shoot camera in terms of creativity, with no control over aperture or shutter speeds, but you will find that the focal range is simply too liberating to ignore.”
Pocket Lint has published a new review for the Bluetooth enabled 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and here is the verdict – “My worries for this camera revolve around the issue of image blur from camera shake. Noise control is good but not good enough at ISO 800, which is a shame because it is the only option open to you to get faster shutter speeds at those longer focal lengths.”
Tusted Reviews has published a new review for the Bluetooth enabled 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera here is their verdict – Never again will Kodak not be in my short list when people ask me to suggest what digital camera to buy. The EasyShare V610 is a superb compact digital camera with an amazing amount of features squeezed into a slim body. The dual lens system gives you an amazing focal length without the usual problems associated with a very long lens.
CNET has published a new review for the Bluetooth enabled 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and they write –

Digital Trends has just posted their review for the Bluetooth enabled 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare V610 dual lens camera and they write –
“This one is a toughie. The EasyShare V610 has a number of features that make it attractive: looks, thinness, a 10x optical zoom, built-in Bluetooth and Perfect Touch technology. I really have problems with the LCD screen and the hiccough as the camera “hands off” from one zoom lens to the other. And the camera is pretty slow saving images to the card; overall image quality was average, nothing to write home about with more noise that you should expect from a 2006 digicam.”

Original Kodak EasyShare V610 Press Release
Kodak Develops World’s Smallest 10X Optical Zoom Digital Camera
Innovative Dual-Lens EASYSHARE V610 Camera Just 0.9 Inches Thick
Proprietary RETINA Dual Lens and Integrated BLUETOOTH Wireless Technologies Change the Rules for Camera Design and Capability
London, April 25 – Eastman Kodak Company today introduced the KODAK EASYSHARE V610 dual lens digital camera, the world’s smallest 10X (38 – 380 mm equiv.) optical zoom camera at less than an inch thick. Using innovative KODAK RETINA Dual Lens technology, the sleek, pocket-size V610 camera precisely combines two SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH C-VARIOGON all-glass, non-protruding prism lenses to deliver such a long zoom range — a first for a camera so small (just 4.4 x 2.2 x 0.9 inches).
The innovative 6-megapixel EASYSHARE V610 camera, with anti-blur technology, can be carried where bigger, bulkier high-zoom digital cameras cannot – in a pocket while skiing, in a small purse during a day on the town, or on a wrist while hiking. The result is the ability to get extremely close, high quality pictures of distant subjects without the obtrusiveness of a larger camera.
Kodak now has the world’s smallest digital cameras at both ends of the consumer photography spectrum – the EASYSHARE V570 model for ultra-wide-angle needs (23 mm equiv.) and the EASYSHARE V610 model for long-zoom needs.
In addition, the EASYSHARE V610 model is one of the first digital cameras to incorporate BLUETOOTH wireless technology, making it easier to instantly share pictures with people nearby. EASYSHARE V610 camera owners can effortlessly send their pictures to other BLUETOOTH technology enabled devices up to 30 feet away -e.g., mobile phones, PDAs, computers, KODAK Picture Kiosks, and even other V610 cameras – as well as receive and view pictures on the huge 2.8-inch, high-resolution (230,000 pixels) LCD screen.
“Kodak innovation continues to make it easier for people to take and share better, sharper pictures. We’re creating cameras for the digital age, breaking traditional constraints by using multiple light paths, lenses and sensors; by incorporating wireless technologies; and by taking advantage of advanced digital processing algorithms,” said Carolyn Walsh, Product Sales Director Digital, Eastman Kodak Company. “The EASYSHARE V610 camera joins the acclaimed dual-lens V570 model in showing what’s possible when innovative engineering is melded with innovative design.”
The KODAK EASYSHARE V610 zoom digital camera will be available in the UK in May 2006.
Better, Brighter Pictures and TV-Quality Video
In addition to its dual lens design and wireless capabilities, the camera includes multiple advanced features to enhance the photography experience, including KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology. At the touch of a button, this innovative feature – previously available on KODAK printers and kiosks, or via lab processing – creates better, brighter pictures by bringing out detail in shadows without affecting lighter areas. It’s ideal for underexposed pictures caused by shooting beyond the flash range or in adverse lighting conditions.
Packing advanced video performance, the EASYSHARE V610 camera records TV-quality (VGA) video with 10X optical video zoom at 30 frames per second (fps), using advanced MPEG-4 compression for optimal quality and storage size. Built-in, video-specific image stabilisation technology reduces on-screen shaking from unintentional hand and camera movement. Videos can be made into a 4-, 9- or 16-up video action print – a “storyboard” compiled from individual video frames – as well as single frame VGA stills.
Other notable features of the V610 camera include:
Favourites mode, which places approximately 100 favourite pictures into an on-camera album for instant retrieval and sharing anytime, anywhere. These pictures are also automatically synchronised with favourites albums on a computer and online at the KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery (www.kodakgallery.co.uk);
In-camera panorama stitching, which automatically combines three pictures into a panorama photograph without the need for a computer;
The exclusive KODAK Color Science image processing chip for phenomenal image quality with rich colour, accurate skin tones, and precise exposure;
On-camera cropping, picture blur alert, auto picture rotation, and red-eye reduction;
Twenty-two scene modes, three colour modes, and a custom mode to help capture the best possible shot with the least possible effort;
Selectable exposure metering, exposure compensation, focus zones, ISO, and single/continuous auto-focus for precise control;
And 28 megabytes (MB) of internal memory available for storage, plus a SD card slot for additional storage capacity.
EASYSHARE Software and Accessories
The KODAK EASYSHARE V610 camera includes KODAK EASYSHARE software for WINDOWS and MACINTOSH systems, providing effortless digital picture organisation, editing, sharing and printing. The exclusive One Touch to Better Pictures feature takes advantage of proprietary colour technologies developed by Kodak to help users get vibrant, true-to-life prints from inkjet printers, while the newly enhanced favourites feature helps you always have your best shots at hand, whether on your camera, on your computer, or online via the KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery. People can also archive their pictures and shoot videos quickly and simply by clicking on the express upload button, which places selected files in a Gallery album.
Kodak also makes it easy to accessorise the new V610 camera with a range of products that help show off your pictures. The popular KODAK EASYSHARE Printer Dock Plus Series 3 (UK£129.99 RRP), also enabled with BLUETOOTH technology, makes it one-touch simple to print real KODAK pictures at home in just 60 seconds — with or without a computer.
