PCWorld – 3/19/2007 – has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare C743 and writes, “Like most Kodak point-and-shoots, the C743 is very easy to use. The help menus and clearly labeled buttons make it easy for beginners to learn to use the camera. You get 13 scene modes (about average for this class of camera), including Children, Sport, and Backlight. If you accidentally erase a photo while reviewing your album, you can undo the deletion–but only immediately after you’ve deleted the image. Once you exit the playback mode, you can’t recover the picture. This simple-to-use camera is a solid choice for casual photographers on a tight budget.”
ImagingResource – 1/10/2007 – has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare C743 and thinks the camera shows poor results when shooting indoors or outdoors in low light. Too bad for Kodak:( – They continue to write -”On paper, the Kodak EasyShare C743 seems like a steal. With a bargain basement price of under $160, the camera offers a good feature set including a 7.1 megapixel imaging sensor, a Kodak-branded 3x optical zoom lens with a 37-111mm equivalent focal range, and a 2.4-inch LCD along with a real-image optical viewfinder — an increasingly rare option on compact digital cameras these days. Like most of Kodak’s cameras, I found the C743 to be very easy to use with relatively good speed for basic snapshooting.
On the other hand, I found the Kodak C743’s imaging quality mediocre at best, especially in anything but good outdoor sunlit conditions. Though noise levels were better than I expected, many shots I took in low light were blurry. The camera’s underpowered flash was not a lot of help either, often failing to illuminate a scene even in a slightly overcast setting. I was also frustrated by frequent overexposure problems in pictures taken in high contrast conditions. In several cases, a blue sky or the white exterior of a car were completely blown out.”
CNET – 12/19/2006 – has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare C743 and here is their conclusion – “The good: Has an optical viewfinder; handy in-camera editing. The bad: Chunky build; very noisy images; few manual controls. The bottom line: With so many better choices for budget cameras available, pass on the bulky, noisy Kodak EasyShare C743.”
