DigitalTrends - 24 October’07 - has reviewed the General Electric E850 and stated the image results were very poor. Here’s an excerpt from their review conclusion -
“There are many reasons I recommend Canon cameras when anyone asks which point-and-shoot camera they should buy. Competition like the GE E850 is one of them. Sure you can buy it on the cheap but since it’s slow, takes bad photos and filled with more noise than the New York City subway system, you can do much, much better. Avoid this one just like Lindsay Lohan should shun LA nightlife and Cosmopolitans. Note: this 5 rating is the lowest I’ve ever given a digicam. At least that’s a point of distinction. “
Photography Blog reviews the General Electric E850 and offers the following advise. On paper the E850 looks pretty good, however, in real life this camera just does not cut it. Poor photo quality and turtle speed are the two main reasons the reviews suggest you look elsewhere. How bad is the image quality. Well according to this review it has the worst digital noise of any camera he has seen, even at the low settings of 80 and 100 ISO. Yikes!
Bottom Line: Slow to startup, slow to perform and crummy photo quality make this camera a go.
Digital Camera Review tests the General Electric E850 and concludes that it is just an average digital camera. Images shot with the E850 were not on par with its competitors. The pictures had more than average digital noise, soft edges, and inferior dynamic range. Camera performance was also on the slow side.
Bottom Line: With no image stabilization, questionable image quality and slow performance this camera can be ruled out as a serious consideration.
