Cameras.co.uk – 30 October’07 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and suggests that the low price and ease of use are the big selling points for this camera. Here’s an excerpt from their review verdict -
“The Fuji Finepix S5700 is one of the cheaper super zoom digital cameras. Therefore it is understandable if picture quality wavers in places. It is one of the easier to use super zooms, despite the fact that the camera has manual exposure controls.”
Megapixel reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and feels this is a very good camera that’s capable of providing good photos. They also note that it’s images would be even better if Fuji would provide optical image stabilization. The 10x zoom and reliable metering made the S700/S5700 a pleasure to use. On the downside the camera offered no diopter correction and the photos were noisy above 400 ISO.
Bottom Line: Nice zoom, good images and first class metering reliability make this a worthy consideration.

Trusted Reviews – 7/20/2007 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and here’s their verdict, “The Fujifilm S5700 is an amazing bargain. It has style, good performance, manual exposure options, excellent low-light ability and fantastic handling, and tops it off with good image quality. That you can get a camera this good for under £130 is simply astonishing. If I could, I would give it 11 out of 10 for value.”
Steve’s Digicams – 7/9/2007 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and writes, “I liked the camera’s ‘Fujifilm’s FinePix S700 is a very capable and appealing “entry-level” prosumer digicam. With 7-megapixels, a versatile 38-380mm 10x zoom lens, loads of useful exposure modes, great performance, and comfortable SLR style body, the S700 will be hard to beat, especially with an MSRP of only US$249 or less! The only downfalls I found were the above average amounts of purple fringing, and the fact the LCD blacks out in between shots (when shooting in a sequence not burst mode.)”
PC World – 6/23/2007 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and writes, “I liked the camera’s ‘Natural Light and Flash’ mode shooting option, where the camera captures a pair of consecutive shots–one without flash and another with flash–so you can compare which lighting captured the better image. A continuous-shooting mode snaps shots at a resolution of either 7 megapixels (the unit’s maximum) or 4 megapixels. This feature worked fine, but it was a bit slow to record.”
DC Resource – 6/18/2007 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and writes, “While the FinePix S700 isn’t the best ultra zoom camera, it’s arguably one of the best ultra zooms for people on a budget. It has features not typically found on lower-end cameras, and puts them into a solid, well designed body. It’s far from a perfect camera, but if you want a lot of zoom for not a lot of dough, the FinePix S700 is worth checking out.”
CNET – 6/15/2007 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and writes, “If you ignore most of the off-key bells and whistles and stick to basics like moderate ISO speed settings and semimanual exposure modes, the Fujifilm FinePix S700 offers quite a bit for your money. If Fuji had only traded some of those high ISO gimmicks for better shooting speed and a more streamlined interface, this might have been a darn good camera.”
CNET Australia – 6/15/2007 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and writes, “The Fuji FinePix S5700 is a sturdy, mid-priced camera for those hoping to achieve that greater degree of creative freedom with their photos. However, those shy of undergoing its learning curve may overlook its strengths and possibilities.”
DP Expert 6/6/2007 – reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S700/S5700 and writes, “The Finepix S5700 is a lot of camera for the money. Neither the camera nor the instruction book treats the user like an idiot. There is a built-in assumption that the customers may be point-and-shooters but it costs no more to cater for those who want to expand their photography experience. The only issue that stops the camera being highly recommended is the image noise. If you can live with an ISO200 limit then it deserves consideration.”
Good Gear Guide – 5/9/2007 – has reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix S700 / (S5700) and they write, “The FinePix S5700 is a decent but uninspiring advanced digital camera. While it will do most of what you want, it is let down by average image quality. Negatives: Poor color reproduction, high chromatic aberration, slow burst mode Positives: 10x optical zoom, speedy operation”

does anyone reading this know how to take a shot with the fujifilm s700 with the background blurred out on a close up like you can on a dSLR, ive tried a couple things and cant quite get it figured out yet, all suggestions are welcome, thanks
Euey, try manual mode or aperture priority, small f number (means large aperture) and zoom the lens respecting the necessary distance. For macros, avoid the zoom so you can get closer. In addition, macro mode is calibrated to blur the backgroup and could be used.
