DigitalCameraReview has reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix J10 and they write -
“I kind of like the Fujifilm FinePix J10. It is not going to compete with a DSLR with interchangeable lenses, nor with a high-end compact like the Canon G9, but it isn’t trying to, either. It breaks new ground, with a combination of features, size, weight, cost, and usability that is somewhat unique.
For the target market it is apparently aimed at, I think it hit the mark. This is an inexpensive camera that includes most of the needed features, without a lot of extra bells and whistles. I would not ponder whether to carry it or not: I would just pocket it. Also, as a beginner camera you would be hard pressed to beat it. Got kids who want a camera? Using film with an Olympus Stylus Zoom and thinking of going digital? Don’t want to have to get out a manual to be able use your camera? Tired of low resolution cell phone snapshots? The Fuji FinePix J10 could be for you.”

TrustedReviews has reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix J10 and they write -
“The Fujifilm FinePix J10 is a nice-looking little camera, and is competitively priced compared to its main rivals. It is a bit short on modern features though, and some of the controls are very fiddly and annoying to use. It also has a major image quality problem with very visible vignetting at wide-angle zoom settings. Add to this its poor low-light focusing ability and I’m afraid it’s not looking good for Fuji’s new ultra-compact.”

PCMag has reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix J10 and they write -
“With a simple menu system and easy-to-navigate controls, the Fuji FinePix J10 is best suited for the beginner or casual shooter who will depend on its automatic settings. But if you’re looking for a camera that’s just as easy to use though a bit more advanced, with room to grow, the Canon PowerShot A590 IS is a better budget choice. That said, the J10 is more than adequate for a first timer, and its price is certainly right.”

Pocket-lint has reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix J10 and they write -
“All in all, this is really a question of budget and how much you get for your money. The screen is a serious shortcoming and would compel us to look elsewhere, perhaps for something with less than 8MP, which would be fine for normal holiday snaps and web sharing photography. Other minor niggles are the lack of memory card in the box. The price here is perhaps the biggest bonus, but jumping straight for the big MP numbers is probably not the right answer.”

Fujifilm UK today announced the debut of a brand new J Series of digital cameras, with the FinePix J10 and J50. Designed for consumers seeking an affordable digital camera that doesn’t compromise on features, the FinePix J10 and J50 provide powerful, easy to use models that fit into a pocket or handbag for instant accessibility.
Housed in a compact body just 19mm thick, the FinePix J10 incorporates an 8.2 Megapixel CCD sensor, a 2.5” LCD and a 3x Fujinon optical zoom lens. The FinePix J50 takes things a step further, adding a high resolution 2.7”, 230K pixel LCD and a powerful Fujinon 5x optical zoom that provides a 37mm-185mm equivalent focal length range. Despite the larger zoom and screen the FinePix J50’s compact design is remarkably svelte, at only 23mm thick.
The FinePix J10 and J50 are available in either Matt Black or Brushed Silver. There’s also the special edition FinePix J12, which has the same specification as the FinePix J10, but comes in blue and pink. Both models use Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilisation Mode to reduce blurry images that can be caused by camera shake or subject movement especially in low light settings. Automatically choosing the correct light sensitivity and best-matching shutter speed, the FinePix J10 and J50 help to freeze the action and produce the highest-quality digital pictures without the blur and noise often associated with low-light photographs. Fujifilm’s new J-series models also offer the following attractive features:
- Scene modes: Pre-programmed scene modes provide top-quality photos in a wide-range of shooting conditions. The FinePix J10 has 14 scene modes and the FinePix J50 has 15
- Movie Mode: Capture QVGA quality movie clips at 30 frames per second with sound. Great for when you don’t have your video camera to hand
- xD/SD/SD-HC compatible slot: The FinePix J10 and J50feature an xD/SD compatible slot which accepts not only Fujifilm’s traditional xD-Picture cards but also Secure Digital (SD) and SD-High Capacity/SD-HC cards too
- Battery Life: Long-life rechargeable Li-ion battery for extended shot life
Adrian Clarke, Fujifilm’s Director of Digital Products, said: “We set out to produce a range of affordable cameras that didn’t compromise on features or styling. The new FinePix J10 and J50 offer just that; carry-anywhere portability combined with high quality results and impressive feature sets at pocket-friendly prices.”

Bought the F12, same as F10 with colour chasis. It’s colour rendering is way off in many light situations; blue purples end up too blue, light browns end up with green-blue cast, and certain shadows or slate greys end up greenish-blue. The macro setting won’t work if the near object is not centred on the screen. The flash is great, the focus is good. It is a complete waste of 8MP technology if the fundamentals of colour are not achieved. Better to use a tried and true algorithm and sensor from earlier S602 models and go for 6 MP and have a nice snapshot. Disappointed.
