Kodak EasyShare Z710 Review - Pocket-lint

Pocket-lint - 12/7/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare Z710 Zoom and they write - “The Z710 is pricey for what it is, it has some odd flaws in design such as that maddening flash/on/off button and it has a build, best politely described as “plasticy”. The camera’s resolution should allow prints up to A3 but there simply is not enough detail to support such a size, add to that some barrel distortion at the wide end of the zoom and purple fringing around high-contrast areas and I have to say that I cannot recommend this camera.”

Kodak EasyShare Z710 Review - ThinkCamera

ThinkCamera - 11/23/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare Z710 Zoom and they write - “Reading this review you may think I hated the Z710 - that isn’t true. I was just terribly disappointed. I like Kodak cameras and usually they can be relied on to give you great performance for your money. I was quite excited to try it because I’d seen the new control system and it’s easy to use and a nice compact size with all of the features you might need. Sadly a number of minor annoyances and below average image quality stop this being a camera I’d recommend. [Note that I’ve been unable to find a UK retail price for the Z710 even on Kodak’s own online store.”

Kodak EasyShare Z710 Review at PhotographyBlog

PhotographyBlog - 11/1/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare Z710 Zoom and they write - “Add to this fundamental problem a slow start-up time and general operation, poor continuous mode, and an annoying flash unit which pops-up every time you start the camera, and you begin to realise that the Kodak Z710 is an ultimately flawed camera. This is a shame, as everything from mild wide-angle scenics to distant close-ups is possible, all from a camera that you can fit into a small shoulder bag, and there isn’t too much distortion at either end of the zoom range. The Kodak Z710 isn’t a bad camera, but poor image quality and important missing features means that it doesn’t compare well at all to the ultra-zoom competition.”

Kodak EasyShare Z710 Review at CNET

CNET - 10/13/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare Z710 Zoom and they rate it 6.0 out of 10. They continue to write - “We saw almost no noise at ISO 64, though there was a slight mottling of darker colors that didn’t show up in prints, but was visible on monitors. ISO 100 showed similar mottling, though noise was still very minor and mostly not noticeable. At ISO 200, noise became slightly more noticeable, manifesting itself as off-color dots instead of the fine snowy white speckles that some cameras produce. Also, we began to see a softening of finer details. At ISO 400, noise was very noticeable. Though the noise wasn’t as bad as we’ve seen in some Kodak cameras, we saw a significant loss of detail at ISO 400. Kodak does offer a boost to ISO 800, but it cuts the resolution to 1.9 megapixels, which isn’t even enough for sharp 4×6-inch prints.”
