Canon PowerShot SD700 IS

PCWorld has reviewed the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot SD700 IS / IXUS 800 IS and write - “An excellent 2.5-inch LCD panel dominates the back of the camera. The image is sharp and bright, and it’s fast enough that looking at it is like watching a small television. You can choose a movie mode that captures 60 frames per second (albeit at 320-by-240 resolution), and the LCD easily keeps up. Or you can opt for 640-by-480 resolution at 30 fps. The image does get slightly grainy at full zoom–but that has no effect on captured image quality, of course.”

Digital Camera Shopper Mag (September 2006 issue) has reviewed the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot SD700 IS / IXUS 800 IS and write - “In our tests the optical stabilizer worked like a treat, enabling much slower shutter speeds than we would normally expect to use, without having to resort to flash. Best of all though, the color contract and sharpness of images delivered by the Canon PowerShot SD700 IS was consistently dazzlingly excellent.”

The Sony has more pixels on a bigger sensor. The Canon wins the glamour stakes. Both have optical viewfinders. The Canon has image stabilisation and costs $100 more. Both are highly recommended and whichever is chosen it will not be the wrong choice!”
