DigiCamReview - 12/4/2006 - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot A700 and they write - “I’ve been using the Canon Powershot A700 for nearly 6 months now and taken thousands of photos with it - this camera has consistently produced excellent results and been able to take great photos in every situation, including WWE shows! Image quality is excellent with great colours, and the 6x optical zoom lens is an excellent feature, especially as the camera is not much bigger than a lot of other 3x optical zoom lens cameras. If you want a good optical zoom, but don’t want the bulk normally associated with ultra zoom cameras, then the A700 (and A710 IS) is an excellent option. The camera only takes 2 AA batteries, yet battery life is still very good, and has the added bonus of allowing you to buy replacement batteries in any local shop, no matter where in the world you are. The manual white balance will let you get great macro photos, and full manual controls mean you can take some great night photos. The only thing missing from this camera is image stabilisation - thankfully Canon have released the A710 IS, and if it’s as good as the A700, then it’s bound to be excellent! The A700 is Highly Recommended! Although if you can’t find it anymore, then go out and buy an A710 IS.”

What Digital Camera Mag - (August 2006 issue) - has reviewed the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot A700 and they write - “For the amount o ffeatures, the lens and final image quality, the A700 is a good proposition. Digital Camera Review - 8/30/2006 - has a new review of the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot A700 and they write - “I enjoyed using the A700. It’s a very easy camera to just carry around to pull out to grab a quick snapshot. The image quality is excellent and having the 6x optical zoom is, in my opinion, worth the extra $50 compared to the Canon Powershot A540. Flash performance (except for cycle time) was good and battery life was average, so make sure you carry a spare set of batteries. I would have liked to see more resolution in the LCD, but it’s not a deal breaker. If you’re looking for a digital camera that’s easy to use, takes great pictures, and has a little more zoom, I highly recommend the Canon Powershot A700.”

Ephotozine - 7/20/2006 - has a new review of the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot A700 and they write -
“Great image quality in good light, coupled with good handling and a very useful 6x zoom lens definitely make this camera worthy of consideration.
Although it may not perform the best in low light when compared directly with the competition, it isn’t a poor performer. If you require the extra controls, AA battery support or the extra range of the 6x zoom lens then this could be the camera for you.

Bdigitalcamera - 06/22/2006 - has published a review of the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot A700 and here are their findings -
“Overall this is a pretty decent camera. If you don’t mind the long wait after taking a flash picture or the cheap feel to it, then it really does have some great features. The 6x optical zoom, the video mode, and the 2.5 inch LCD are all absolutely wonderful. It seems to get in focus really quickly as I never had one problem with the focus taking a while to pick up. It has 20 different shooting modes including portrait, landscape, night scene, snow, indoor, among others. It does take AA batteries as opposed to a rechargable battery pack, so keep that in consideration.”

Imaging Resource - 05/31/2006 - has published a review of the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot A700 and here are their findings -
“I had no real quibbles with the Canon A700 (apart from the double-manual system), and lots of pleasant surprises. In the end what I most loved about this AA battery-based gem was the 6x zoom and manual control of exposure with an unusually easy to find and use EV adjustment setting.”

Popular Photography - 05/02/2006 - has published a review of the 6 megapixel Canon PowerShot A700 and here are their findings:
“The A700 is about as responsive as the compacts get these days. The camera powers up very quickly and there is no 5- or 10-second wait time between shots. The overall color is sharp, saturation is very good, and it produced some great results for us. As with most cameras in the A-series, you get a lot of features for the money (Street: $349). All you need to add is a much bigger media card and some rechargeable batteries and you are ready to shoot the world around you. Well done, Canon!”
