Ken Rockwell reviewed of the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 30D and here’s the conclusion - “Like all Canons, the colors and images look great. They are smooth, sharp and detailed, without being harsh. Shoot with a 30D, and if you know what you’re doing, you’ll get fantastic results.”

BusinessWeekOnline has a new review of the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 30D and here’s the conclusion - “The 30D also has a number of features its predecessor lacks. For continuous shooting, you can now choose between three or five frames per second. It also has ISO settings, for light sensitivity, that increase in smaller increments. On the 20D, you would have to choose between ISO 800 or ISO 1600. Now, you’ve got the choice of 800, 1000, 1250, or 1600, allowing for greater fine-tuning in variable light.”

ThinkCamera has a new review of the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 30D and they write - “I started this review by saying that I would help you decide between the 30D and the 5D. I can’t - it’s up to you whether you prefer the full frame of the 5D or the cropped sensor of the 30D (plus the extra £750 in your pocket - the 5D is currently twice the price of the 30D). With the right lenses the 5D delivers better images with slightly lower noise but the 30D is really so good that I wouldn’t expect most users to grumble about it in the slightest. As for comparing the 30D with other manufacturers - well, it’s pretty much what you would expect. Taking everything into account I’d rate it as better than cheaper cameras by other manufacturers and not as good as much more expensive ones. That may sound like a cop out but it reinforces the advice on buying a DSLR we stick by here at ThinkCamera: read the reviews to find any shortcomings and rule out any lemons, choose the price band you feel comfortable with and then try the resulting cameras until you find the one you like the best. For about £800 body only you’d expect a pretty good camera - and that’s exactly what you get with the Canon 30D.”

CNET Asia has a new review of the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 30D and rate it 8.5 out of 10 - “Building on the merits of the 20D, there is no doubt that the 30D is also a performer. However, current 20D users may find it less convincing to cough out the cash differences for a nominal improvement in terms of features, unless they absolutely need a spot metering option, larger LCD and more control in how their pictures turn out with Picture Styles. Despite the limited reasons to upgrade, the EOS 30D is still able to hold its own with the competition and will appeal strongly to enthusiasts or first-time digital SLR buyers.”

Camera Labs has reviewed the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 30D and they write - “Canon’s EOS 30D may be little more than an evolutionary step forward, but it’s crucial to remember it improves upon a camera which most agreed was already excellent. While it may have been more honest to describe it as a 20D Mark II, the 30D remains a great camera which is enjoyable and rewarding to use, while delivering lower noise levels than its rivals. There may be few existing Canon owners who’ll justify upgrading, but plenty of new digital SLR users who’ll find it ideal.”

Hardware Zone has reviewed the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 30D and they write - “All in all, if you are looking for a mid-range DSLR in the market today, the new and improved 30D is certainly not lacking in any department, but for existing owners of 20D or equivalent models, the 30D will not offer much in the way of performance to price ratio.”

DP Expert has a new review of the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 30D and they write - “The Canon EOS 30D with the better lens is competition for the Nikon D200 which has a 10 megapixel sensor. Choosing between the two would be difficult and a great pleasure! Anyone lucky (rich) enough to be shopping in this market gets to choose between two superb cameras.”
