Panasonic’s Oxyride Batteries Power Digital Cameras Longer: Coming to the U.S. in June Panasonic’s Oxyride batteries have had a little controversy surrounding their claim to deliver twice as much power as alkaline batteries. Well stop the press, because in Prague a test was conducted to see how Oxyride batteries drove a digital camera. Well…they found that Oxyride batteries squeezed out 2.4 times as many photos over using alkaline batteries.

Today Toshiba announced a new lithium ion battery, which according to Toshiba it can recharge 80% of the battery’s energy capacity in just one minute, 60 times faster than the other lithium ion cells. Not only that, but after 1000 charge cycles, the lithium-ion cell loses only 1 percent of its charging capacity. Two of these cells and a nearby power outlet and you’ll be able to stay mobile indefinitely.
