Megapixel - 3/15/2007 - has reviewed of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and writes, “Negatives - Some noise from 400 ISO up - Point and shoot only. No manual controls - Compression a bit too strong at the highest image quality - Positives - Very good image quality outdoors with good light - No lens distortion - Multiple scene modes - Solidly constructed.”
DPExpert - 2/15/2006 - has reviewed of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and they write, “This camera is in the fashion accessory category. It is an indoors camera, although the flash is not very powerful.”
Imaging Resource - 10/22/2006 - has reviewed of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “Even with the larger sensor real estate to populate with 10 megapixel of sensor sites, the Casio EX-Z1000 did capture noisy images. But the noise resembled film grain rather than the colorless confusion of some high ISO sensors. Turn off Anti Shake if it bothers you.
In all the categories that matter, the Casio EX-Z1000 scored well. And where it didn’t score well, there are convenient workarounds. Those are the kind of tradeoffs we like to see in a digicam.”
DCMag - 10/9/2006 - has reviewed of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “Ten megapixels might sound over-powered for a compact, but the Z1000 handles large files admirably, without being over-ambitious in capturing fine detail. It’s, easy and astonishingly fast to use, it has some new feature that are more than a match for most rivals. It doesn’t look like much but it sure packs a punch.”
T3 - 9/26/2006 - has posted a review of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “Despite a few undercooked features, and a price that’s pushing it a bit, this camera is damn impressive. That 10MP sensor will turn the heads of spec-spotters, but it’s the ease of use and great results that make it a real winner.”
DPReview - 9/18/2006 - has posted a review of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “The EX-Z1000 is a very easy camera to like; it’s fast and responsive in use, user friendly and stylish, and capable of stunning results at low ISO settings. It also has one of the best screens on the market and a well-designed interface and control system. But it’s far from perfect; the poor high ISO performance is disappointing (though with files this big you might not be that bothered for small prints) and using the long end of the zoom in anything but very good light results in more focus errors than we’d like to see and an ever-present risk of camera shake.”
Think Camera - 8/31/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “I had the Casio EX-Z1000 on test at the same time as a number of other cameras. I have shot far more pictures with the Casio than with any of the other cameras because it’s tiny enough to slip into a pocket and I knew that I could rely on it for quality pictures. If I was looking for a sleek compact that got me great results and had plenty of pixels then I would almost certainly buy the Z1000. However, I still think 10MP may be a step too far for many users. If you want a great looking compact, routinely crop your pictures (or use digital zoom) and are happy paying a premium for larger file sizes then it’s unlikely you will do better than the EX-Z1000. Personally, I’d shop hard and get a bargain on the Z600 while it’s still around.”
Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 - (10.0 megapixels)
Digicam Review - 8/26/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “The Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 is an ultra-compact digital camera with a 10 megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a large 2.8″ screen. The camera provides speedy performance, a lot of user friendly controls and options, and a compact, stylish metal body. Images provide good colour and exposure, but unfortunately lack detail and suffer from excessive noise. The anti-shake mode(s) add even more noise and further degrade image quality. As one of the most compact, highest megapixel digital cameras currently available, the low price makes this model tempting, however I would personally recommend a different camera, as this model’s image quality severely counteracts the benefits of the 10 megapixel sensor. It’s a shame, as this is a very enjoyable camera to use.”
Pocket-lint - 8/22/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “This camera should have a lower resolution, say (the almost defacto) 6-megapixel resolution of most of its competitors. The race for bigger numbers has actually reduced the quality of the end result.
Cameras.co.uk - 07/28/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and here’s the verdict - “Offering ten megapixels the Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 is likely to be a very popular digital camera. It takes a decent photo both indoors and outdoors. It has quite a range of different features for a camera in this category and also sports a large LCD screen.”
Digital Camera Info - 07/27/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and they write - “The EX-Z1000 is not the leading camera its specs suggest it might be. It demonstrates why other manufactures haven’t made 10-megapixel ultra-compact cameras: 1) they can’t get good image quality out of such small sensors; 2) snapshooters don’t need that much resolution; 3) it’s a pain in the neck to store and download such large files. The Z1000 does offer some enticing options - its metal body, slim size, vaguely entertaining Best Shot modes, and the option of recording nearly a thousand custom models however, these features are all available on cheaper and smaller Casios. Simply put, poor-quality, 10.1-megapixel files don’t justify a $399 price tag.”
Consumers Electronics Net - 07/19/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and they write - “In actuality, the EX-Z1000 is the camera that all other digital cameras in this price range should grow up to be, due to the Panel on the 2.8-inch LCD that gives you easy access to the camera’s most widely used controls via the icons located on that extra LCD real estate. While the camera has most of the other features in the Exilim Zoom line, and includes a fully functioning dock that recharges the camera, displays the images and enables you to transfer those images to a computer, it is the Panel on the LCD that gets the golden ticket. This is the most versatile Casio I’ve looked at and its ease of use, thanks to the icons on the right side of the display is what sets it apart. Image quality is very good based on my subjective eyes.”
Trusted Reviews - 07/18/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and they write - “Despite, and not because of, the megapixel willy-waving, the EX-Z1000 is a superb camera. It possesses first class build quality, brisk performance, outstanding image quality and an innovative and easy-to-use control system that makes it ideal for a first-time user. As to whether you really need 10 megapixels, only you can decide.”
Digital Trends - 07/12/2006 - reviews the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and they write - “I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this new 10MP point-and-shoot digicam. I really didn’t like the Casio EX-S500 but this digicam is definitely a shooter of a different color. The EX-Z1000 has a nice feel, superb onscreen menus, is simple to use and it takes good-not great-photos.”
CNET - 07/11/2006 - gives a 7 out of 10 rating for the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 -
“A slim design and an easy-to-use interface make the Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 appealing, but its overprocessed images and mixed performance depress its overall value. It’s a nice camera, but it doesn’t sufficiently distinguish itself from the rest of a class, which includes star pupils such as the Canon PowerShot SD630 and the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T30.”
PhotographyBlog - 07/09/2006 - has reviewed the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and rates it 4.5 out of 5 -
“The Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 is a frustrating camera. It is one of the best-built, well thought-out, feature-rich and quick compact digital cameras that I’ve ever reviewed. On the other hand, the 10 megapixel sensor is a liability, producing images that look good at first glance, but which upon closer inspection suffer from noise at ISO 200 and faster, purple fringing in many shots, including situations where you wouldn’t expect to find it, and almost completely ineffective anti-shake and high-sensitivity modes. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed using the EX-Z1000, but didn’t like the images that it produced, which is possibly the worst kind of disappointment.”
Ephotozine - 07/03/2006 - has reviewed the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and takes a look at whether having all those extra pixels really does lead to better quality pictures -
“Unfortunately I am less impressed with the images produced by this camera, especially as the 10 megapixel resolution is one of the major selling points of this camera. Noise at high sensitivities and sharpening artefacts detract from what should be a fantastic camera on paper.”
Digital Camera Review - 06-28-2006 - has reviewed the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and points out that they had difficulty in getting a quality indoor shot. They continue to write -
“As one of the very few 10 megapixel, compact point and shoot cameras on the market, the Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 doesn’t have too much competition (yet). It’s an attractive camera that has a nice LCD and takes good images in good light. When you move indoors, good image quality is harder to come by, but is not impossible.”
Steve’s Digicams - 06/20/2006 - has reviewed the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and indicate it’s the highest resolution ultra compact they have seen. They continue to write -
“the EX-Z1000 is an awesome addition to Casio’s already popular Exilim Zoom line. With robust performance, great image quality, and loads of easy to use exposure modes, this model will make a great choice for anyone in the market for an “ultra-compact” consumer model.”
CNET Asia - 06/19/2006 - has posted their review of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and rate it a 7.4 out of 10. They go on the write -
“The Exilim EX-Z1000 was introduced at a time when we all thought the megapixel race was over. It is like calling a truce only to unleash another image resolution war. If you intend to take pictures at the maximum resolution (which could be the main reason you are buying this camera), you’d better invest in a high-capacity memory card. One grouse we have, though, is the nearly unusable ISO 3,200 setting in replacement for optical image stabilization.”
HardwareZone - 05/30/2006 -has posted their review of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and indicate it takes the number one spot in the Casio lineup. they go on the write - “On the whole, we were very impressed with the level of details and color reproduction shown by the new Casio EX-Z1000. In most cases, images came out very well, especially so for night shots. As for day pictures, color reproduction was slightly warmer, which may or may not suit the preference of everyone.”
Lets Go Digital - 5/20/2006 - has released their review of the 10.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 and indicate it takes the number one spot in the Casio lineup. they go on the write - “The camera is equipped with many innovative functions, is economical with its energy, shows an excellent image quality, and is packaged in a high-quality stainless steel housing. In our opinion, the fact that this camera offers 10 Megapixels is not necessarily its main asset; after all, the Casio Exilim EX Z1000 camera already has sufficient potential in itself to seize a market share. Those who are looking for a digital camera, and are open to an abundance of handy and creative functionalities, should definitely take a closer look at the Casio Exilim EX Z1000.”
