Reviewers Conclusions & Verdicts - (updated 06 November’08)
Photography Blog
“So if you like the quirky design and colours, and can get over the soapbox-like build, you may realise that this is a fairly decent point-and-shoot model after all. However, if you are looking for a camera that is not just easy to use but can also ‘grow’ with you as you learn more and more about photography, you should consider something else.”

“It can definitely hold its own when it comes to performance and quality. With Easy, Auto, Program auto and a variety of scene modes, this camera can be picked up and used by anyone in the family.”

Pocket-lint
“Colours are good and rich, perhaps a touch warm, but nothing to complain about. Shadows do sometimes show a little noise, something that plagues the Hi ISO setting, giving you ISO 3200 whilst the sensor drops down to 2 megapixels.”

“The test camera’s auto white balance setting had the usual problems with incandescent lighting but produced neutral colours with fluorescent lights. Both the tungsten and fluorescent pre-sets also delivered neutral colours, as did the manual measurement system.”

GoodGearGuide
“Naturally, the camera performed best in bright, outdoor environments, with noise coming to the fore in darker conditions. The E1 offers an ISO sensitivity of up to 1600, though anything above ISO 400 is pretty much unusable.”
