Computer Active - 5/15/2007 - reviews the Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “Although the A710 is bulkier than the average pocket snapshot, at least it hasn’t compromised on usability – meaning that essential controls can actually be operated by finger and thumb rather than resorting to a toothpick. That makes for a more pleasurable shooting experience.”
TechTree - 3/21/2007 - reviews the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The Canon A710 IS is available for Rs.18,500 with a one year warranty. In a way, it’s got everything an average user could ask for. The OIS system is a boon, especially for that price. So, if you are looking for a sub 20k cam, don’t think twice before getting this beauty.”
Megapixel - 3/1/2007 - reviews the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “No improvement in monitor resolution over last year’s A700 - Limited autonomy with only 2 AA-size batteries.”
Ephotozine - 1/21/2007 - reviews the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The A710 IS offers something of a middle ground in terms of functionality. The 6x optical zoom is nice, but it’s not a really telling feature, just good to have, and the image stabilization works well with it. The resolution is good, but other in this kind of price range are now offering slightly more at 8Mp. Then again, for a compact, 7Mp is plenty and more is just overkill. The camera does offer a good deal of photographic control, even though the image quality is little better than average, and it only shoots sRGB as well.”
DigitalCameraReview - 1/16/2007 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The A710 IS retains everything that made the A700 a best buy digicam and adds the one element that was missing; optical image stabilization - making an already excellent digicam substantially better. I’ve used every “A†series Canon digicam since the A20 and I’ve enjoyed all of them for their winning combination of usability, practicality, functionality, dependability, durability, and excellent performance for price ratio. The A710 IS is an almost ideal general use digital camera that will appeal to everyone from beginners and casual shooters to advanced amateurs and even pros looking for a dependable high-performance personal pocket camera. It’s like a mini S3 IS with a big dose of G7 attitude. The A710 IS is my hands-down favorite digital camera of 2006, and I predict consumers will buy this digicam in amazing numbers.”
DPReview - 12/13/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “Without the metering / clipping issues this would be an easy Highly Recommended. As it stands its unique combination of features and keen pricing just saves it from a lower rating. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to the more experienced photographer on a budget wanting a compact camera packed with goodies, perhaps less wholeheartedly so for the absolute beginner wanting true ‘point and shoot’ infallibility.”
LetsGoDigital - 11/14/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “At first, it doesn’t look very different to its predecessor. However, the Canon PowerShot A710 IS really is an improvement and a much more complete camera. You could say that, with the Canon PowerShot A710 IS, the A series has grown up and that it is the perfect stepping stone on the way to a digital SLR camera. I’m very positive about it. This camera has an amazing range of possibilities and excellent image quality for a great price and you will enjoy using it for a long time to come. It’s a real winner!”
Cameras.co.uk - 11/9/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “n terms of picture quality the Canon Powershot A710 IS is top quality. It also has a great range of features for the price, including 6x optical zoom. If I was looking for a camera in this price range and my main criteria was picture quality then this is the camera I would buy.”
Steve’s Digicams - 11/6/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The Canon PowerShot A710 IS is a terrific consumer digicam. Its 6x optical zoom is far more versatile than the typical 3x zoom, and the IS feature makes the 210mm telephoto end usable even in marginal lighting conditions. The A710 combines beginner-friendly automatic and scene modes with the aperture-priority, shutter-priority and manual exposure modes demanded by advanced users; it’s truly a camera that everyone in your family will enjoy using.”
Imaging Resource - 11/3/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The Canon A710 has enough megapixels for excellent resolution in enlargements without risking much image noise. The A710’s excellent 6x zoom is impressive, and a great argument in favor of picking a slightly larger camera over those sexy slim cameras, with great corner sharpness and very little chromatic aberration. A variable LCD would have made the Canon PowerShot A710 more useful to me, and I would have appreciated a live histogram, but that’s just quibbling.”
PopPhoto - 10/31/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “Overall, we feel that image quality for the A710 IS is quite good for the price ($399.99 est. street) and its feature set will provide something for every type of user. Image quality was quite good as well. Colors were sharp with a plenty of detail. Although we were shooting mostly during the day, we did experience some noise after ISO 200 as the day got more overcast. Shooting indoors, we did experience some slowness with flash recycling.”
PhotographyBlog - 10/28/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The Canon Powershot A710 IS is one of the most well-rounded compact digital cameras that we have reviewed recently, offering a great combination of portability, creative control and features. The 7 megapixel sensor may not grab the headlines, but it does offer a good compromise between image size and quality. There’s hardly any chromatic aberrations, an effective ISO range of 80-400, powerful built-in flash and a remarkable 1cm macro mode. Not to mention the very effective image stabilisation system which allows you to hand-hold the A710 IS in low-lighting conditions without your pictures suffering from camera-shake, an essential addition given the 6x zoom lens, which in turn covers most photographic situations that you will encounter.”
TrustedReviews - 10/9/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The Canon PowerShot A710 IS is expensive for a compact camera, although it does offer a wide range of features for the money. Overall performance is outstanding, however build quality and more importantly image quality are not up to the standards we’ve come to expect from Canon, and the possible flash fault is damning. The latter may be an issue with our review sample, but as things stand, it’s a bit of a disappointment.”
DigitalCameraInfo - 10/9/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “The A710 IS offers a lot of nice features: there’s the optical image stabilization, the 7 megapixel resolution and the good movie mode. And it’s fairly priced at around $370. We’ll have to wait and see how the image quality pans out when we do the testing, but the Canon PowerShot A710 IS looks to be a solid camera for the shooter who wants point-and-shoot features, plus a little bit more on top.”
CNET - 9/25/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “Once again, Canon has delivered a great value with it’s A series in the form of the A710 IS. With its addition of image stabilization, you should be able to shoot a couple of shutter-speed stops slower than you normally would, making the long end of the zoom lens even more convenient, and the camera’s usable ISO 800 setting will let you capture images in situations when IS is not the answer. Plus, for average situations, the camera’s image quality is quite good for the money. Most casual shooters and simple snapshooters will find that the A710 IS is plenty of camera for their needs, and its versatile controls make it a nice spare camera for more advanced shooters, as well.”
DCResource - 9/19/2006 - has reviewed the 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A710 IS an they write. “In a way, the A710 is sort of like a poor man’s PowerShot G7. Both cameras offer a 6X zoom lens with image stabilization, a 2.5″ LCD, full manual controls, and conversion lens support. Of course, the G7 has a 10 Megapixel sensor, more bells and whistles, and the ability to record longer movies. Then again, it costs $200 more, so it has to. Priced just below $400, the PowerShot A710 IS has a lot to offer, and it’s a camera I can recommend without hesitation.”
