This super telephoto L lens is older than Canon DSLRs that were introduced in 2000. The lens was born in 1993. Surprisingly, Canon has not yet replaced this lens in 16 years . Why? May be because this lens is extremely popular due to its image quality and sharpness. It has be used in good light at a wide aperture coupled with fast shutter speed (1/800 or above) plus little higher ISO if needed to capture excellent pro quality images. Replacement possibility may include f/4 and IS. These will make it heavier in weight but will make your wallet lighter than what it does now. Already it's 200 dollars dearer than what is was just few months ago. Still I'm convinced it's an A grade lens which is why I've booked one recently. Go for it now b4 stocks are exhausted with little possibility of replenishment.
