PC Authority - 7/27/2007 - has reviewed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and likes it a lot but feels it is in some ways restrictive. Yet, it is will on its way to becoming the preferred DC based digital photography workflow software. The only issue the review had was with its handling of Canon RAW files. He felt Lightroom failed to produce detail results in comparison to Canon’s own Digital Photo Professional application.

CameraHobby - 7/24/2007 - has reviewed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and feels the Lightroom engineers seemed to have given a lot of attention to handling large numbers of photographs such as a stock photographer would produce, yet they overlooked the needs of wedding and event photographers who don’t pick a small number of photos out of large photo sets, as stock photographers do.

He also noted that when it comes to noise reduction Lightroom still has a lot of improvement needed. So if you are currently using one of the noise reduction plugins or software you probably don’t want to uninstall them quite yet.

PCW - 4/12/07 - has reviewed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and writes, “For most photographers, especially those who trained in chemical processes, if the job is done properly, post-processing should involve little more that grading, cataloging and whatever minimal skilled tweaking is necessary to make an image pop. DPExpert - 3/28/2007 - has reviewed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and writes, “This program is now our basic photo editing tool. Once mastered it is a pleasure to use. The speed with which it does its job is dependent on processor and memory but with a decent setup it is much faster in opening and being ready for operation than Photoshop. Bibble Pro is similar to Lightroom in its functions and is available for download for US $130. At the moment Lightroom is the better value but after 30 April Bibble becomes a serious contender.”

DigitalCameraReview - 3/23/2007 - has has reviewed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and writes, “I was very impressed with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. It has a nice interface that is easy to get around and most of the features/functions are intuitive. The software ($199 until the end of April, $299 after that) is not meant for everyone, but if your budget allows, it’s very nice for what it does. I typically don’t need to do any type of editing at a Photoshop level, but Lightroom makes it very easy to fix color in the shots that I need to fix. I’m also impressed with its flexibility as far as image organization is concerned – you can leave your images where they are on the hard drive, or not. Adobe has done a lot of work in getting Lightroom the way photographers wanted it. The beta program has been going for almost a year when Adobe actively gathered feedback from users. The final (non-beta) version does seem very polished.”
