Nikon Coolpix 5600Nikon is hoping to appeal to consumers who have never considered buying a digital camera before with a new entry level camera, the Coolpix 5600 (5.1 million pixels). It has enhanced in-camera features such as Nikon’s D-Lighting function, which, when selected in playback mode, can compensate for insufficient flash or excessive backlighting as well as In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and Blur Warning.

It also has a newly designed GUI and help buttons that explain menu functions. Menus can be displayed in 11 different languages too. It has a 1.8-inch color LCD, 4cm macro function and a 3x zoom. It will be available February 05. [click to continue...]

Nikon Coolpix 7900Nikon Coolpix 7900 - Nikon announced today its second seven million pixel camera the Coolpix 7900 It has a large 2.0-inch LCD and feature a Help button for explanation of menu functions, plus a 3x optical zoom offering a focal length equivalent of 38 - 114 mm. It also features Face AF, like the Coolpix 7600, for focusing when using portrait mode. The 7900 is available in silver, black, and red. The Coolpix 7900 is scheduled for release in March 05. Olympus and Kodak Memory CardsOlympus announced a 1 GB xD-Picture card and a portable card and USB reader and writer. Yesterday, Kodak announced several branded memory card formats up to 512 MB manufactured by Lexar. Both companies will release their cards and accessories in March and April 2005.

Kodak announced three cards ranging in capacities from 128 MB to 512 MB: miniSD, MMCmobile, and Reduced Size MMC. The miniSD and Reduced Size MMC cards will be available in March, while the MMCmobile card will be available this summer.
